On tap at the brewery. Deep amber and slightly hazy appearance wit ha lingering, frothy, lacy beige head. The aroma is resinous hops, pine, some citrus, quite grassy and herbal as well. Similar flavor, adding a medium plus bitterness and minimal to light malty sweetness. Medium to full body with a light dry finish. Decent overall.

On tap at the brewery. Pours dark amber. Significant head and lace. Aroma of floral hops, pine sap, sweet malts. Medium carbonation and big mouthfeel. Flavors of pine hops, amber malts, straw hops, ginger, cookies. Overall big, bold and very flavorful. I should admit to having enjoyed a few growler refills...more expensive than the Himalayan and a different profile...very tasty.

10 oz snifter at the brewpub. Pours pretty dark for the style. Looks more like a porter than an IIPA. Aroma is hoppy enough, but vegetal with a little booze and hefty malts. Palate is heavy, sticky. The hops don’t explode, just give a piny bite. Malty sweetness is present with toffee, wooden notes and berries and a small hop bite. Disappointing for the style. Reminds me of some of the inferior IIPA’s from the southeast a few years back.

Draft. Pours clear reddish amber. White head. Nose and taste of caramel malt, dank orange peel and grapefruit. Medium body.

At Big Beers, Belgians, & Barleywines Fest 2013. Clear dark amber with a thick foamy head. Sticky aroma of grapefruit rind, pine resin, and boozy caramel. Rich big flavor of pine and grapefruit bitterness with a caramel undertone, however, also has a vegetal bitterness throughout. It’s a nice sipper, but unfortunately has that vegetal tone holding it back for me.

RSRIZZO (2010) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - DEC 9, 2012
On tap at Yak & Yeti Brew pub. Color is a deep amber with light carbonation and a thin off white head. Aroma of sweet roasted malt. It has a medium body with a fizzy mouth feel. Flavor has caramel, roasted malt and mild citrus ending with a light bitterness. In the after taste the bitter lingers giving it a slightly dry feel. Overall its a little low on the hops but still a good brew.

Tap. Pours clear amber with a medium, fizzy white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is fruity esters, citrus and pine hops, biscuit malt and light alcohol. Flavor is malt forward with medium hops and bitterness, fruity esters, spicy alcohol and a sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Tap @ Yak and Yeti Arvada. Reddish orange apperance with an off white head. Fairly resiny, grapefruity, somewhat earthy, toasty malty aroma. Nice caramel/toasty malty flavor with some grapefruit citrusy hoppy notes. Ok.

3.5
arminjewell (9689) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - MAY 14, 2012
Pour on tap at the brewery, clear orange-red pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of big resinous hops, grapefruit, citrus and pine come through, touch of caramel, hint of alcohol burn as well. Taste is more restrained than I thought, bitter pine and grapefruit, hints of other orange and citrus, touch of caramel, finishing slightly hot, fairly bitter.
