COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named in honor of 13th Century Icelandic historian and poet, Snorri Sturluson, this coffee pale ale is brewed in collaboration with Iceland’s Einstök Brewery, La Colombe Coffee Roasters and Yards. Steeped with Bravo and Chinook hops and freshly roasted beans, this crisp, copper-colored brew sings with bright citrus notes and rich coffee character.

Amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, coffee, brown sugar and toast. Taste of pine, light citrus, caramel, and some coffee as well.

Growler fill from GAT Beer in NE Philadelphia. Pours clear golden amber, with a 2-finger off-white head. Mild aroma, with notes of coffee and citrus. Body is medium-to-full, and moderately oily. Lightly astringent finish. Flavor of coffee, with a citrus hops note behind it. The coffee returns in the finish.

Pour copper with a one finger off white head with pretty nice lacing. Aroma is of citrus, coffee, pine, fruits, sweet malts, and some light toasty malts. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma. Has a medium body with a semi creamy, semi dry, semi bitter, medium-long finish. Overall, a pretty tasty and interesting APA that features some nice coffee notes.

Draft at Good Dog. Mostly clear orange gold with some slightly off-white foam. Mild lace. Somewhat jucy dark amber citrus fruits. There is a notable dark element that was hard to place until I learned that coffee was part of the mix here. Once defined, yes you can taste it but it hardly feels like a coffee beer. I actually think its the caffeine that punctuates the flavor here, not more subtle coffee bean elements. There are subtle underlying wheat flavors of shortbread and straw, but the caffeinated amber fruits ultimately propel the brew. Unusual.

Pours clear gold with a medium white head...good retention and lacing. Aroma has light fruity and coffee notes...earthy with a touch of tea. Flavor has nice balance...mild roasty malts and earthy hoppiness, both accentuated by coffee nicely...coffee has a bit of a berry/fruity note. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is dry and earthy/bitter with coffee accents.

Pours burnt orange with a white head. Aroma is earthy, coffee, toast and citrus. Taste is sweet with mild bitters. Medium bodied. The coffee is not as prevalent as one would believe with the involvement of La Colombe. It is interesting to have the coffee and citrus interplay.

32oz growler from Crossroads. Pours a crystal clear Amber color with a large frothy eggshell head. Aroma of really light coffee, Amber malts, earth, and caramel. Taste is much the same. Notes of light coffee, Amber malts, earthy hops, and old citrus.

Great chocolate coffee aroma. Taste is a nice milky coffee. Great body. Any Iceland product can’t go wrong.

On tap at Pinocchio’s. Copper pour, small head. Coffee pale ale sounded intriguing. I had a sample that was pretty good. By the time I got through my pint, I had trouble discerning the coffee. Light and drinkable. Some slight toasted malts, citrus zing. Decent.
