COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Cape of Good Hope, which changes year to year, pays homage to the original style and adventurous spirit of the first British IPAs. This past year’s release, a west coast style double IPA, is brewed with 100% pilsner malt, imparting a subtle maltiness and beautiful golden color. Loaded with hops, there’s Columbus in the kettle and Centennial in the whirlpool. Then it’s dry hopped with El Dorado, Calypso, and Galaxy, resulting in a dry, crisp ale with unmistakable flavors and aromas of tropical fruits. Doesn’t match the hop listings I’ve seen elsewhere, right?

Pours golden and translucent with a nice frothy one finger white head with an aroma of fruit and pine. Tastes of pine upfront with moderate bitterness and very slight hint of pineapple in the finish. It's medium to light bodied with moderate carbonation with fairly well hidden alcohol.

On tap. Golden amber pour. Moderate head. Fruity malt profile, hops are floral, citrus. Bitterness is just enough to balance out malt sweetness. Pretty decent, but not earth shattering.

Rating #2480 - 2016.05.03 - Draught at Bru in Philly. Golden pour with a rich white foam, decent retention. Tons of grapefruit and pineapple up front. Medium carbonation, decent medium-strong body for an Imperial. Fruit forward, more sweet punchbowl hops drive this beer home.

Drank from a pint glass, poured from a twelve ounce bottle. Thank you Danny. Nice clear haziness. Too much piney booziness in this one.

Where: Old Line Fine Wine Spirits & Bistro. How: 12 ounce bottle. Appearance: Pours a very attractive orange with a 2 finger orange head, that leaves behind plenty of lace. Aroma: Smell is orange, garlic, onion, mango, and pine. Taste: Taste follows garlic, onion, orange, mango, pine. Palate: Mouthfeel is a little above medium, mild carbonation, a hint dry, and excellent drinkability. Overall: Nicely balanced between the caramel malts and American hops. Good citrus and pine notes with hints of tropical fruit. Alcohol is well hidden. Not as complex as I was hoping but surprisingly smooth and easy drinking.

bottle @ House of 1000 Beers / New Kensington PA --- Aroma of citrus and malt. Nearly clear medium amber color, fluffy ivory head that stays at 1/2", sheets of lace. Taste is caramel malt and citrus hops, side by side through medium carbonation to a lingering finish. As the finish fades, unsweetened tea is present. Strong, huge body, not heavy, alcohol well-disguised, a good balanced brew. Recommended.

On tap at Brunzies. Hawaii’an Punch, tropical fruit in a fragrant hoppy nose. Sweet caramel. Medium amber gold clear with foamy white lacing head. Medium body with medium-light carbonation. Sweet with tons of hoppy fruity flavor and medium bitterness. Mild bitter finish and light sweet bitter after.

It pours golden with tinges of orange. It has a white head with plenty of lacing. It has aromas of grapefruit, citrus, and floral. It has flavors that are highlight by the grapefruit and citrus with bread, floral, and orange. It has a medium-high bitter finish with alcohol warming. For an imperial IPA this is fairly easy drinking.
