UPDATED: JAN 15, 2018 Never rated until now, but I have enjoyed this one for years. True to the Porter style, it's not heavy like a stout, but has a dark hue. The head quickly fades with a thin lacing present. Roasted malts and dried fruit flavor hits with a slightly bitter bite at the finish. Pretty cool history to this beer, too. Pours opaque jet black with half finger tan head. Label is amazing and I adore the concept.
Nose is strong porter with coffee and chocolate with toasty malts.
Taste follows with chocolate and coffee dark malt. Some (but not much) sweetness and medium bitterness.
Palate is medium and it goes down easy - esp for 7%
Overall, this is an excellent porter. Big coffee and dark chocolate, but easy drinking. I’d buy this again in a heartbeat + the concept is amazing!! Paulwasser (3) - Alabama, USA - NOV 11, 2017 does not count
This is one of the smoothest porters I have tried. I really enjoy this Porter from Yards. Give it a try and I am sure you will too. lAlpedHuez (13) - Brookville Hollow, New Jersey, USA - NOV 9, 2017
I think those who ranked it highly here pretty much nailed it. One important thing I would add is that I found it much, much better once I kept it stored on the underground basement's floor rather than chilled in the fridge. Much larger head and far better body and flavor at that temperature. A really nice Porter for the price. hbiermann (24) - - NOV 6, 2017
Pour from 12oz bottle. Super lovely with a dark color and foamy head. Tastes of molasses with a hint of coffee.
