Only the strong survive.

IPAs were originally brewed to survive the epic sea voyages from England to India. Ours is no different. Hailing from a firm malt background and loaded through and through with hops, this beer will surely survive the journey from your fridge to your couch.

Very little to no aroma. Not much taste in your mouth or going down but definitely a nice hoppy dry after taste.

Woody, floral hop aroma with a high level of fruity esters and slight caramel. Appearance is gold with a white head with average retention. Hop flavor is medium with floral qualities. Malt flavor is bready with caramel notes. No diacetyl. Bitterness dries the beer out with a smooth bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium with medium carbonation. Overall, it's a well made example of an English ipa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a fairly hazy dark red color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light speckled lacing clinging here and there around the glass. The smell had a bittersweet citrus to piney hops with a nice balance of caramel malts here and there. The taste was the blend of the previously mentioned flavors but actually showed a weaker strength than I expected. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed somewhat subdued and not as sharp as I expected for an AIPA. Overall, this was not a bad beer. If it would’ve showed a bit more strength in the nose and flavor this one has a lot of potential to be a great one of its style but to me, it’s just an okay kind of beer.

Good tasting IPA. Pleasant initial taste with nice "hop" bite. Complex palate. A bit heavy for regular drinking.

Bottle into a tulip glass. Pour is a honey amber. Aroma is hoppy goodness. Taste is what a ipa should be. Finish is warm. A very good IPA. Another local beer of me.

Transfer from BA review on 7-6-12 Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a dark golden/amber color with a thick and billowy just off white head. The head has great retention, but fades slowly over time to give a moderate amount of lacing. Smell – The aroma is a mix of hop and malt. There is a lighter sweet malt base of bread and caramel. Mixed with these are hop notes of pine and a lighter citrus (orange and lemon) as well. Taste – The taste begins with a bready and caramel base mixed with notes of a citrus hop flavor. While the hop starts out mainly of citrus orange and grapefruit in nature notes pine come more to the tongue. The pine gets stronger and begins to bitter the taste as it advances further. Toward the end there is an earthy hop flavor that when mixed with the bready base and the pine leave a more bitter and dry flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker and chewier side with the carbonation level being quite average. The body of the beer is quite nice and allows all the bitter hop flavors to soak into the tongue. Overall –A pretty good more on the bitter side IPA. Good but nothing extraordinary.

A pretty good IPA. Picked this up at the airport in Philadelphia. Golden, transparent, little head, with a nice balanced orange, pine, and caramel flavor.

Bottle. Clear gold. Sweet malt aroma and light bitterness. Taste follows and adds some fruitiness. Medium sticky mouthfeel. Ok.

Barreras (1689) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - JUN 22, 2014
Pours a clear yellow color with a light floral aroma. Taste is clean and simple. Good easy malt flavor with a quickly disappearing aftertaste. Overall an easy drinking IPA that was refreshing and enjoyed while on South Street in Philadelphia.
