A great session stout. I’d love to have it on nitro. Black under a thin, off white head. Very dry, roasted, coffee aroma. I would by no means call this a sweet stout -- there are very low levels of residual sugars. It is an incredibly dry stout. Very nice flavor -- initially coffee moving into roasted barley. Lingering bitterness. Thin palate as a dry stout should have, but over carbonated.
This is a very good cool weather beer, whether it be a damp summer eve or a cold winter night or a early morning hangover cure this coffee-chocolate tasting beer will leave a smooth creamy taste in your mouth. Bottle (Feb 22, 2017 bottling). Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted/burnt grain), with notes of tar, leather, licorice. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.

From my father: pours near black with a small beige head. Aroma is brewed coffee and some chocolate... very particular coffee. Taste is somewhat sweet. Not bitter at all. Very smooth. Pour: Black like a cup of strong coffee. Head was caramel amber like the foam from root beer.
Nose: Roasted Malts, Coffee, Slight sweetness.
Taste: Smoky hickory, chocolate, coffee, slight moleasses syrupy note. Some sweetness. Creamy.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied, Few small soft bubbles.
Overall: I would pair this with anything Cajun style, but you could even match it with Brie toasted almonds and French baguette. Nutty qualities as well as mushrooms would complement it as well.

Scents of fig, chocolate, oat, coffee and maple syrup. You taste the chocolate - overall, it’s very light. The other flavors don’t stand out as much as the chocolate. The aftertaste is mild with a light bitterness to it. An easy stout to drink! OnTheTrail (517) - USA - DEC 5, 2016

Backlog, Pours black from a bottle with a medium beige head. Tasting notes were dark chocolate, brownie, dark malt, coffee, and grain. Medium bodied stout and relatively drinkable at 5.5. Also tried this blended with Fruli strawberry, Canals was calling it a chocolate covered strawberry on the tap station.
