COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Olde Bart was a free spirit who bent elbows with the best of ‘em. We’ve made this amber-hued, English style Barleywine ale for characters like him. Brewed with 100% Maris Otter malt (a traditional floor-malted English barley) and noble hops, Olde Bartholomew is an unfiltered winter warmer with a smooth malt background, soft fruit overtones and a slight hop spice in the finish. Just a few sips are sure to arouse the character in all of us. 22°
AVAILABILITY: November through January beginning in odd years

Had this at Mad Mex. Aroma is a good deal of malt, some sweetness, but not cloying. There is definitely a BIG belt of alcohol, but there is no burn. I think this would benefit from a year in the basement and a friend of two.

PhillyCraft (7219) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 26, 2016
BB log, Draft, hazy reddish orange with a smaller sized top and not much lace. Notes of maple syrup, dark fruit, candy sugar, booze, and wood. Really strong tasting and warming in the gut. Body was too thin for its own good. Not a fan.

CloakedDagger (2481) - - OCT 7, 2016
Bottle 75 cl. Pours a hazy, pale amber with a small, off-white head. Surprisingly little aroma, I just smell sugar and booze. Rich, sweet body, some subtle fruit and even more subtle caramel, there’s not exactly a ton of flavours here. Ends with some balancing hops and quite some booze. It’s a Barley Wine lacking a lot in sophistication, but if you just wanna get wasted in a very short time you’ll fid this more than adequate. 071016

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Pours a clear dark orange golden color with a small off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate sweet malts, nuts. Average body. Medium sweet flavor and a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.

750 ml bottle shared with Tmoney99 and a small group at Dutch’s. Pours a clear dark orange golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, slightly nutty, caramel, Maris Otter, I tend to like sweet more than most with barley wines, but this may have been a bit much, some sweet candied fruit, honey, all malts, ok.

Emeister84 (2505) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - MAY 17, 2016
Red berry aromas, red apple, biscuit, earthy hops. Clear orange with a mostly lasting off-white head. A little sweet, bready, somewhat fruity. Full bodied.

Beerdedone (3401) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 23, 2016
Bottle. Pours a cloudy dirty brown with a foamy beige head. Aroma of caramel and light fruit. Flavor was slightly sweet with caramel, bread, raisins, light toffee and had some fruitiness.

Tap, bocktown. Clear pale with hints of vinegar on the nose. Big strong volatile impressions on the uptake. Rude, nasty and uncivilized. Ubiquitous uncivilized and just like so many other big domestic beers. Don’t know if aging would round out this BW er not. Warming upper digestive track finish. Yes, terribly on style for a domestic BW.

on tap at the brewery - nice golden color. Not much aroma. Decent flavor - better than I thought it would be.

750 ml bottle served in snifter, One finger white head which takes a few minutes ti dissipate. Beer is a clear golden color. Aroma at first resembles honey, later aroma becomes more typical of a barlywine and retains a slightly sweet character. Taste is faintly sweet and lightly bitter. Some hops.A slight bite and a little alcohol warming is present. Strong yet fairly lightly bodied beer. Light carbonation. Over all not a bad barleywine but far from the best. I wonder what a oak aged version of this would taste like.

dlovell2 (2133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - MAR 1, 2016
Pours bright copper color with off white head. Aroma is some fruitiness with caramel. Flavor is caramel malt, butterscotch, and golden raisins. Bit of a piney finish and booziness.
