COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saisons were originally brewed to keep farmhands happy and hydrated during the warm summer months. True to the style, Yards’ Saison is a semi-unfiltered Belgian style ale brewed with distinctive Belgian yeast. It’s delicate and fruity with a subtle spiciness. Styrian Goldings in the kettle lend a touch of hop to the palate, balancing out this highly drinkable version of the classic style. Available April through July or until supplies last.

Hazy gold with thick foamy beige head; sweetish grainy aroma with hint of Belgian yeast; Flava is spicy grains mixed with slight sweetness and spicy yeast; feels medium And smooth; finishes dry with spicy grainy notes and touch of bitterness at the very end

Tulip glass- an excellent farmhouse ale great aroma with hints of honey and a very sweet but not overwhelming taste. The aftertaste is solid as well, and overall is a different taste than the normal saison ale.

Great summer ale. Blazing heat is this beer’s best friend. Has a nice wheat/straw nose and lots of great sour grass flavors. love this beer.

DATE REVIEWED: July 24, 2014... GLASSWARE: La Fin du Monde tulip... OCCASION: just watched Earth to Echo--fun, but not E.T. ...APPEARANCE: hazy, glowing golden orange body; an armada of bubbles cascades upward into a white, frothy, three-finger head that leaves thick cumulous clouds... AROMA: candied sugar, hay and lemon zest--missing the signature barnyard yeasts, though--definite allspice, cumin and coriander... PALATE: lively, active in the teeth; medium-bodied, with a long drawn-out, welcome aftertaste; sessionable but somewhat substantial... TASTE: apple, raisin, grape, zesty lemon, anise and cumin combine to create an abbey-like profile without the alcohol...not as soft and unfiltered as expected... OVERALL: one of the first (THE first?!) saison I had, and this bottle rewards well within my price range ($8.99 for a six); quite flavorful for the thirst-quenching expectations; Yards dos not often disappoint, and they do not here...

UPDATED: MAY 1, 2011 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a vibrant caramel-amber color with an enormous creamy yellow-white head. The aroma was strongly peppery and must with notes of lemon zest and light spices. The flavor was tangy and dry with a strong notes of sugar and candied pears and hints of ginger, pepper and underlying mustiness. The finish was long and dry with notes of pear and pepper. The body was thick and full. Well done.

Pours an orange amber color with big thick white foam head. Has an aroma of funk and lemon zest with some florals on the nose. Has a nice foamy mouth feel. Has that bitter spicy saison taste. The belgian yeast comes through as well (banana notes) but works with the other characteristics. Very nice saison and underrated.

Pours a hazy golden yellow with an off white head. Aroma is of spice and straw. Taste is distinctly Belgian with overtones of fruit and gingerbread.
