Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (grain, popcorn), lightly hoppy (herbs, flowers), lightly to moderately yeasty (basement), with notes of pepper, grains of paradise, gum, clove. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Reasonably decent, other than the popcorny malt character. The nose also suggests added spices, but it’s plausible that it’s "pure". A little rough, but it has potential and is certainly better than the buttery and bubble-gummy version I had in 2005. It kinda seems like they’re attempting a Dupont clone now, but this yeast can’t quite pull it off so it leans a bit too much towards a generic Belgian golden than a saison.

Light hazy golden color, white head. Herbal, yeasty, light phenolic taste. Phenolic aftertaste. Medium to fizzy mouthfeel, medium low bitterness. Also cream in the aftertaste. Light phenolic, some yeast scent.
Pours a slightly cloudy orange-yellow with a white head. Aroma of lemon and grass. Taste same with hints of banana and some of the yeast coming through. Nice crisp finish. Very tasty.

The Yards Saison is pretty to look at and smells just as nice, but it’s lacking something in taste. It doesn’t taste bad—it’s quite enjoyable and it’s light in taste, but it also feels a little flat, like it can’t quite distinguish itself from other saisons. It’s still a solid beer from a very good company, and I’d drink it again. I just don’t love it.
