2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
I don’t know... I heard that you shouldn’t burn evergreen branches because the smoke is mildly toxic, so I found myself being very tentative each time I took a sip of this beer, brewed with Spruce tips. Pours with a body the color of an old copper penny, while the head disappeared before I could determine the color. Christmassy spruce aroma, almost flowery, and very little else. Flavor is very.... woodsy. Bitter, tart, herbal, floral, piney (I suppose, "sprucey")... overall interesting in a, "Here, try THIS" kinda way. Mild gut-burn, odd astringent linger of perfume on the roof of my mouth. Plus belching felt like I swallowed some toothpaste. I didn’t totally despise this. It actually rather "grew" on me. (Sorry for the pun, that was a bit sappy. :D ~~~~~~~~ Variety 24 pk./12 oz. btls., random bottleshop, Paoli, PA

With Abby while watching breaking bad after 1st day of surgery rotation.
Beautiful deep copper with small white head. Darker than I expected.
Smell is molasses malt with a little bit of the spruce.
Taste is lots of spruce with some nutty/molasses malt coming through. Quite sweet but finishes dry.
Medium/light palate. Not very carbonated and finishes dry. HUGE spruce flavor comes through on the finish.
Overall, this is great! Once again, the concept is incredible and the big spruce flavor is unique and delicious! gripweed57 (2970) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - DEC 1, 2017
12 ounce bottle. Clear copper color with a small creamy beige head. Fragrant notes of molasses and spruce. Flavor follows nose. Lots of molasses and toasted malt. Rich and flavorful. Slightly salty with earthy, herbal notes. Lightly carbonated with a pleasant mouthfeel. Tasty. mitchclay2002 (11) - - OCT 17, 2017
Lots of nutty and chocolate flavor. Deep and rich but not much of an aroma. Not a bad cold weather beer.

Copper colored good head retention. Aromas of spice, molasses, and spruce. The flavor is unique. It combines the aromas plus a clear herbal quality.

A nice spruce tip beer. Very nice head. Nice body. Taste has a light spruce herbal pop to it. Nothing bad in this Brew. It shows what other buttering agents can be used. Nice. Aroma light spruce also.

Pours a clear dark brown iced tea color with a thin off white ring. Not much of an aroma. Very thin and watery with just a hint of malt flavor. Not much taste at all. Very plain and ordinary. With a name like spruce I was expecting at least some pine resin? djd07 (16289) - Houston, Texas, USA - MAY 28, 2016
On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear amber with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong grass and floral. Medium mouth, rich malt, wheat, spruce, light bitterness, very good.
