COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This powerful and complex golden ale pays homage to Founding Father and fellow brewer, Thomas Jefferson. Yards Brewmaster, Tom Kehoe, worked closely with Philadelphia’s historic City Tavern to recreate this recipe, employing honey, rye, and wheat, just like the beer Jefferson made at Monticello.

An orange beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of oranges. The flavor is sweet with notes of oranges combined with a fine presence of hops, giving it a grapefruit note as well as a dry bitter end.

UPDATED: OCT 4, 2005 Bottled. Hazy golden, rich head. Perfumy honey aroma. Very sweet with soft, spritzy mouthfeel. Medium to full body with well structured malt profile. Peachy hops provide a bitter, salty finish. Honey however dominates the beer, and the sweetness gets a bit much, despite the efforts of the hops and malt.

Going local here in Philly. Bottle at Hawthorne’s. Hazy deep amber colr, small off white head, solid lacing. Aroma of caramel and straw. Taste is bery astringent pine. Unique.

Theydon_Bois (19189) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - DEC 7, 2013
Bottle split at Christine and Daves thanks to DLJ, 27/11/13. Clear golden amber with a moderate off white covering that retains well. Nose is bready malt, toffee, biscuit, bitter fruit tang, woody, scorched brown sugar. Taste comprises toffee, faint hop backbone, bitter orange, touch of booze. Medium bodied with a little oomph, dry, fine carbonation with a lick’o’booze in a sweetish finish. Ok drinkable affair but lacks depth for the ABV and not one I’d choose to revisit.

TBone (17434) - Pori, FINLAND - OCT 3, 2005
Bottled
Hazy nut brown, very small brownish head. A bit alcoholic, malty, barley aromas, quite intensive nose. Medium to full bodied. Liquerish palate, quite alcoholic with late hoppy bitterness.
