deep burgandy/brown color with a thin head..cherries!, tart apple brettanomyces touched loveliness..sour, dark and complex with malty cherry tartness..I like it..i like it a lot! PeterA (342) - EL SALVADOR - DEC 10, 2003
Slightly acrid scent, but not unpleasant. Light brown head that was sufficiently thick, the beer itself was a dark caramel color. I tasted apple and maybe some grape, it was nicely bitter. The carbonation was mild and the aftertaste was smooth. This is a unique beer for me, the tartness works very well. skaughty (652) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - FEB 22, 2004
This really is somewhere between a Dubbel and Trippel! Appears like a classic Dubbel, with the aroma somewhere between a sour lambic and spicier trippel. Make sure to get the full aroma before tasting, as I was shocked by the sourness and white wine taste at first. Picking up the scent led to the remaining sips that matched the aroma. Mimimal carbonation and moderate mouth action. I'd love to see other brewers attempt this fine hybrid. However, it is hard to believe they'd do much better. Deep ruby with a firm head. Aroma is dark fruits, candied malts, toffee, raisin. Mouth is much more creamy than expected. A light carbonation bite but mostly smooth, thick, creamy. Flavor is dark, ripe fruit, candied sugar malts, toffee, and just a hint if alcohol in the finish. Highly enjoyable brew. The 9% is well hidden, which meant I drank it a bit faster than I would normally have. Very good. (Firkin) ravidesai (979) - Bombay, INDIA - SEP 13, 2001
A rather unique brew. a cross between a dubbel and tripel.
very malty and rather sweet but still dry and subtle.
available cask-conditioned - very smooth this way.

Pretty damn good, one of my favorites at the GABF. Sweetish, "purple" tasting beer. jeffc666 (1984) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - DEC 7, 2003
Murky black/brown body with a medium tan head. Aroma is sour with some dark fruit. Flavor is tart cherry and complex. Dry sour body with hints of alcohol. harlequinn (2744) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - FEB 22, 2004
This is a very unique Belgian. The aroma is spicy, with a very dark murky pour, and a HUGE head. The taste is strongly medicinal with a strong alchohol bite, spicey and herbal, tart and citrusy. A nice mixture of several Belgian styles. ryanscourt (1567) - Latrobe, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 4, 2013
Black/dark brown, nice lacing. Strong malty and fruity aroma. Flavor is follows sweet. Really like the nice fruity flavors. Nice mouth fill, with low carbonation. Didn’t really notice the trippel spiciness, but the large dubble malt body is there. Alcohol is apparent as well but blends in nicely. Aftertaste is pleasant as smooth, Apparently only comes out every couple years. Best one ive tried from yards. hopdog (13191) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 13, 2013
750ml bottle. Poured a dark mahogany color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of bananas, dark fruits, all around fruity, and yeast. Tastes of bananas, some bread, dark fruits, and chocolate.
