Cask, handpump at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks, 21-12-09 Stood in the pub whilst it was blizzarding heavily outside, so only had chance to have small amount before I realised that not moving soon may see me stuck in Aylesbury for the evening. Pours brown a touch hazy with an off-white head. There is a good level of bitterness, some dark fruits, its not as sweet or as cloying as I was expecting and even the alcohol isn’t the harsh burner that I believed it was going to be. Nice stuff wish I could have had more time, not been driving and the snow not quite so hideous. A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.6 DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - JAN 28, 2010

330ml Bottle - Dark brown in colour. Marzipan, fruitcake, almonds and malt in the aroma. Rich and fruity taste with notes of fruitcake, nuts and toffee standing out. MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 16, 2008
A Mes rate. Gravicask at Pigs Ear. Mahogany body with a thin white head. Plenty of pig farm in the aroma but in a good way. Some rich malt with a slight cheesy funk, faint fruity notes and some good balance from the hops. Similar flavour. Sweet raspberry jam and a perfect level of spice. Just a lick of bitter hoppage at the finish rounds it off nicely. Jolly good beer. KnutAlbert (6754) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 17, 2009

Newark Winter Beer Festival, 2009. Blackish beer with a lightly roasted aroma. The flavour is bitter and richly malty. Overall a nice richly malty beer.
Cask at GBBF 2011. A dark brown coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Malty, fruity aroma. Tastes of dark fruit, sweet, malty, caramel. A rich tasting Christmas beer which I really enjoyed, rather strange to be drinking it at a summer beer festival.
