"A pretty nice IPA overall. Courtesy of Lou. Pours a hazey copper with some decent lacing around the glass. Sticky, white and very piney on the nose. Taste is fruit forward, only mildly bitter. Clean and citrusy with lots of grapefruit. Awesome beer! :)"

Pours an orange/amber with a medium bubbly off white head. Aroma of caramel malt and what seems to be too much of it. Most of the American hops have seemed to have faded. Getting slight hints of grapefruit and pine. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 29, 2010
Thanks to Amelia for the bottle! Poured near-clear, with a healthy shade of medium orange.. short-moderate cap of sticky beige head. The aroma picked up a bright kick of grapefruit juice, dirty earth, and pine over vanilla and candied caramel.. when it came down to it, Cow Tales candy really came to mind. The flavor was a lot more bitter than said candy, but the underlying sweetness was basically the same.. spicy pine and a blend of earth, grapefruit, and pineapple provided most of the bitters.. very earthy and sweet (with decent balance between the two) on the resiny finish. Medium-bodied and very sweet on the palate, but to its credit, bitterness rose as the drink progressed, and balanced it out.. spicy and bitter at the end. Kind of a messy blend of hops, but it was an OK drink. Barrios (1243) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAY 19, 2010
Pours an amber body with a lacing, off-white to beige head. Aromas of citrus hops and some caramel. Flavor is grapefruit and a little pineapple. Finish is slightly bitter. swenocha (81) - Franklin, Tennessee, USA - APR 18, 2010
Deep orange pour with small white head. Good lacing. Strong cascade aroma. Love the cascade aroma. Malty and piney flavor with some grapefruit. Surprisingly, a pretty heavy malt behind this. I like this one... I’ve liked a few of the hop projects better (still have fond memories of 12), but this one is very nice.

bottle thanks to illinismitty! Pours deep orange with a tall frothy tan head. Aroma is strong orange peel and cascade. Flavor is a nicely balanced mix of biscuit malt and pine hop flavors with lots of citrus in the finish. Solid! lithy (2996) - Capital of Appalachia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 13, 2010
Clear amber red, cream colored sticky foam. Aroma is citrusy, pine needles, some fruitiness, caramel. Taste is citrusy, orange, grapefruit, nice sweetness, good body, caramel, but a light metallic twinge comes through at the end to distract just slightly. illinismitty (2271) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 30, 2010
4 pak from Kroger. Pours amber with an off white head. Floral hop and citrusy aroma. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Caramel pale malt backbone with a hint of toastiness that has a firm counterpunch of grapefruit and leafy hops, but not with the puckering rind bitterness that some of the West Coast IPAs have. Moderate amount of resin on the finish, but not a lot of dryness. I like this better than the last few, but it does not top my favorite of the series. As always, enjoyable and fun to pick up. From a distributor rep at Pizza Kitchen. Faintly cloudy orange, decent white head. Nice clean crisp hop aroma, with a touch of malt. Very hoppy, lots of grapefruit. Very tasty! nqualls (1452) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 17, 2010
Source:12 oz bottle from the local Kroger, dated 1st week of March.
Glass:Sam Adams Perfect Pint.
Appearance:Standard, slightly hazy amber body with a somewhat quickly dissipating off white head. The head dissipation is slightly abnormal for these beers.
Aroma:Pure grapefruit, with a hint of dank earth and some bready malt.
Flavor:This flavor is amazing. A solid malt backbone, with a slightly bitter grapefruit finish. While I absolutely love this, I wouldn’t say that they got the malt profile correct for a West Coast IPA. Needs to be drier.
Palate:Medium body with solid carbonation.
Overall:Best of the HP series in a very long while. I would rate this even slightly higher if they hadn’t commented about trying to make a west-coast-style IPA, but this is great nevertheless.
