3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Another solid but not very memorable hop project. This one leaves a bitter, slightly chalky aftertaste but there is enough citrus to cut it. The head poors thing and leaves little lacing. I could settle in and have a few of these.
12 oz. bottle from grownfool- thanks again, Brian! Pours a somewhat cloudy amber color with a finger-thick off-white head that settles into a nice little film on the beer. Aroma of grassy hops, pepper, herbs, citrus peel, sweet malts, and a little soap. Flavor of herbal hops, tea, citrus, sweet and caramel malts, peanuts, toast, and bitter resin. Medium-bodied, with a bitter, oily mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Lingering bitterness on the finish. Not bad but other recent HP’s have been more interesting to me. beersearcher (2383) - Glendale, California, USA - JAN 23, 2011
Pours a hazy orange/red. Aroma is a combo of floral and pine tree to me. The taste is bitter but really malt forward. The bitterness really sticks around. Not overpowering but you can really feel it lurking. I like this Hop Project idea though. elgiacomo (747) - Ringgold/Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, USA - DEC 20, 2010
12oz bottled 2nd or 3rd week of November 2010. Pours semi-hazy amber/orange/copper with a good fluffy white head that leaves tons of beautiful lacing and holds a good cap. Pungent aroma of citrus, pot, cat spray, smells like Simcoe, some pine and bready malt. Great strength. I love super pungent IPAs and this one delivers. Flavor is a blast of bitter grapefruit rind and resinous hops, some pine, some bready malt sweetness in the middle but doesn’t do much to balance against the onslaught of hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, oily, medium carbonation. Might be the best Hop Project I’ve had yet. Really smells/tastes like Simcoe was used here and I’m a big fan of that hop. Great stuff. nearbeer (5662) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - DEC 20, 2010
12 oz, bottled 2nd week of November. Clear copper with a small, but lasting creamy head and sugary, crunchy lace. Nose is earthy tea leaf, dirty orange toffee, and molasses. Flavor is the same with a nice touch of resin and green herb on the finish. Medium body is smoothly carbonated, lightly tingly, and well-balanced with a big dry finish that makes you want to gulp more.

*Bottle> Notched between 2nd or 3rd week of November*
Aroma is very sweet floral hop scent, Flavor is very minimal- hop bitterness comes on quite slowly, then starts to really fill your mouth with a warm oily stinging. Quite interesting how delayed the flavor is on this. Bottle from J Barleycorn, Nashville. allfreej (567) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - DEC 7, 2010
On tap, Nashville Mellow Mushroom. Dark copper pour, nice off-white head, really good lacing. Citrusy, lemon/grapefruit nose. Caramel malt backbone with a nice blast of citrus hop flavor. Bitter finish without astringency. Nicely carbonated, medium mouthfeel. Excellent! Beerona97 (2399) - Washington, USA - DEC 7, 2010
On draft at the brewery. Pours hazy golden amber with a thin beige head. Aroma of fruit and resin, some herb. Taste has lots of resinous bitterness with grass and herb again.. Medium body. jzzbassman (1638) - Arlington, Texas, USA - NOV 24, 2010
Dark orange pour with a nice white head. Hop aroma is citric, sweet, malty. Flavor is bitter, and hop profile is like chewing on a fresh pine needle.....in a good way. Thick bodied, finishes dry and bitter. Suttree (6537) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - NOV 14, 2010
Orangey brown, with a big foamy white head. Earthy, slightly citrusy aroma. Flavor is very earthy at first, then a hop bit that is piney at first, then a little grapefruit. sticky, messy finish. Body is heavier than I remember previous HP’s being.
