3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. Clear amber-copper with a half-inch of lasting sticky meringue. Nose is earthy orange toffee. Taste is toffee, earthy grain, tea leaf, bitter resin, toasted pecan, orange pith. Smoothly carbonated and medium bodied. Nice balance with a crisp dry finish and easily sessioned.
The beer has a nice cooper color to it with a slight haziness to it. It is well carbonated, poured with a nice head and has some good lacing on the glass. The beer a very mild malty smell with a hint of a piney scent, a little disappointing. The taste is okay with an obviousy malty flavor up front and a slight piney hoppiness in the background, for an Hop Project, try adding hops. The mouthfell afterwards is okay with the lingering hop bitterness lingering around for a while. Overall, I was excited to get this beer in a trade and disappointed with the results. I had previously purchased a sixer last august while in Knoxville of the Hop Project 34 and thought it was outstanding. This one didnt hold a candle to it and a little disappointing to me. shigadeyo (3820) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 2, 2013

8/06/2011: Yazoo Hop Project #55... Aroma: Toasted maltiness and slightly grainy with a mild, earthly, almost Noble hoppiness. Appearance: Burnished copper color; clear; dense beige head; very attractive. Flavor: Toffee maltiness with a slight butterscotch and a big, dry hoppiness; definitely heavily dry hopped with a moderate bitterness; . Palate: Medium-bodied; smooth and a bit slick. Overall: Really nice creation; very sessionable; I likes!
fl. oz. bottle shared by steveo. Thanks! Rating #8 for this beer.
Natifest courtesy decaturstevo-pours a dissipating light tan head and dark gold color. Aroma is floral/resin/dank, some light/medium malt. Taste is dank/resin/spice hops, secondary sweet medium malt-caramel. Suttree (6541) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 2, 2011
Looks the same as the other Hop Projects. Of course, it has the familiar Hop Project malt profile. I did get some odd but enjoyable grape notes I don’t remember from the other HPs. Nice mix of woody and citrus notes, the a woody, resinous finish.

Growler shared at Natifest ’11. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy earthy complex hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy smooth bitter flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of medium to long duration. Good beer. elgiacomo (747) - Ringgold/Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, USA - AUG 17, 2011
Growler. Served at around 45F. I THINK this is #55. My friend picked this up for me but he couldn’t remember which one it was and I called the store and they couldn’t tell me specifically either, which is pretty lame. Said it was either 55 or 56. The profile I’m getting leads me to believe it is #55.

Pours slightly hazed amber with a one finger white head that retains pretty well and leaves plenty of spots of lacing.
Aroma features some apricot, pine, spicy, some onion, a little citrus of lemon and grapefruit, good amount of bread and caramel malt. Very good strength but kind of a mess and not terribly appealing.
Flavor is pine, grapefruit, a little onion, spicy hops, rather hefty malt backbone of caramel, toffee, and bread, moderate sweetness and finishes with very good bitterness. Most Hop Projects I’ve had have been quite bitter and this one follows suit.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, a little creamy, moderate carbonation.
A solid, but not spectacular Hop Project from Yazoo.
Sample at Nashville beer fest along with a cask version as well. I think I liked the carbonated version a little better. Apparently this is a Nugget and Cascade hop profile according to the guys in the tent. Sweet candied orange backbone with a bitter grassy finish that is also sticky and sweet. Thick sweet aroma of bubblegum. NachlamSie (3598) - Denver, Colorado, USA - AUG 13, 2011
6 pack from Midtown. This is one of the more disappointing Hop Projects. I was enjoying the aroma and flavor at first. It was pretty solid, nothing special, but hoppy and fruity with a lot of interesting spiced notes that I get from many examples of this series. But a few sips in, the beer begins to get oddly sticky. Most of the Hop Projects are, if nothing else, most easily sessionable. This one has this sticky, buttery, vegetable aroma that is buried beneath the hops and only seems to bother me after about a 1/4 of a glass and constantly sniffing of it. It’s still alright, but I expect more from the Hop Projects.
