Draft (nitro - listed as Nitro Stout 4.2%). Chocolate malt and light hay aroma. Black with nice tan head. Sweet light smoky chocolate malt and mildly bitter/ashy hay flavor. Very solid. wedgie9 (2702) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 4, 2015
Nitro version tasted on draft on 9/29/11 at the brewpub. Pours opaque super black with a smooth and creamy tan head that slowly recedes to even, creamy tan lace. The nose is darkly roasted nutty coffee, dark chocolate, and a lightly creamy vanilla aroma. The flavor is the same, with perhaps a bit of a dried fruit and molasses quality. The body is medium with light, creamy carbonation, and a long roasted nutty coffee finish. snoworsummer (5959) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - APR 14, 2014
From a bottle. Pours dark brown with a fizzy, bubbly light brown head. Tastes sweet, malty, roasted, slightly dry and burnt. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like sweet malty caramel with light cocoa. sonnycheeba (6259) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - APR 14, 2014

Aroma - chocolate malt, some roast, there is also a little bit of coffee
Appearance - body color is dark walnut/black; the liquid is opaque; the head is 2" and tan/brown, which fizzles out after a minute or two ending in a thin layer of foam.
Taste - taste has a rich chocolate malt, some roast, and smidgen of strong coffee.
Palate - body is medium; texture is a bit on the thin side for a stout, only slightly creamy; carbonation is average; the finish has a little roast astringency, but not overly powerful, the chocolate malt also hangs around for a while. Blairgus (4613) - California, USA - MAR 13, 2014
13 Mar 2014, tap at Yazoo Brewing. black. nose is leather and bitter molasses. thin body and moderately fizzy. almost has a peaty or earthy characteristic. not bitter, not sweet. dry and dark/leathery/earthy. decent. Machinari_Diem (58) - - FEB 21, 2014
Pours a thick, oily black with a 1" thick light brown head that dissipates quickly.
Flavor carries strong notes of coffee and roasted malt. Mild cacao notes in aftertaste. Lingering off flavors in finish that thick mouthfeel holds to tongue. gerbewa (253) - - FEB 5, 2014
