COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A very special brew for our fifth anniversary. Brewed with a blend of rye and pale malts, spicy American hops, and a classic farmhouse yeast, for a tart, peppery body and an amazing dry finish. Here’s to five years of Yazoo!

A: Pours a nice gold that is a touch hazy. Nice tall foamy white head, good retention and some real nice lace. S: Aromas of yeast citrus, honey, banana, and spice. T: Much much like the aroma. Yeasty and spicy for sure. Very mild banana notes with a crisp citrus bite. There is a doughy quality to this one and a mild hop character to round things out. M: On the lighter side of medium, smooth and tasty.

Bottle from a trade with Rustyham. Pours cloudy dark golden color with thin white head. Fruity aroma with rye, spices and some yeast. Sweet fruity flavor with banana, clove and some spiciness from the rye and yeast. Has alot of hefeweizen aromas and flavors. Medium body with lively carbonation. Thanks Nick.

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2010 Color is like a clear apple juice, headless. Aroma is sweet, like honeysuckle and pale UME. Flavor is very easygoing, malty at first and then sweet and flowery in the end. Lastly, some rye spice kicks in. i really like this, I’m sure I could drink it by the pitcher if they’d let me. Bottle from Whole Foods, Nashville.

Bottle from Frugal MacDoogal’s in Nashville. Pours a very cloudy golden color with a thick creamy white head. Aroma is barnyard funk, Belgian yeast, banana, and rye. Flavor is - whoa, this isn’t a hefeRYEzen? Banana and clove are big here, with just a little pale malt and funk and some rye. Some slight pepper as well. Medium-bodied and a little less lively on the palate than I’d like. Not at all to style, but not a bad beer if you ignore that fact.

Bottle from phaleslu- thanks peter for introducing me to this brewery. had high hopes for this after trying yazoo sue the night before. Pours a hazed dark golden with a fizzy white head. a sweet melon and peach fruit saison. moderate spice character. some orange peel and tangerine notes as well. a bit too sweet and melony for my liking. also could use some drying out. not bad though.

4/27/10 - 12oz bottle. Huge fluffy white head - watch it! The aroma is light Belgian yeast and oxidized homebrew. The flavor is light Belgian, a bit watery, but sweet and spicy. There is also a hint of metal.

Draft at the taproom tonite. Gold pour, slight head. Rye malt flavor shines, and heavy on the wheat. Tastes a lot like their Hefe (looks like it as well), but with some spicy notes from the hops and rye. Pretty thin, very dry finish. Wheat beers are not my thing, but I actually like this one...

phaleslu (10264) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 12, 2010
Draft at the new brewery. Pours a hazy orange-gold with a tiny white head. This one has a lot in common- in its look, smell, and taste- with a hefewiezen. Aroma of farmhouse funk, citrus fruits, pale malts, rye, yeast, pepper, and clove. Flavor of rye, pepper, clove, farmhouse, pale malts, citrus, hay, apple, and banana. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a spicy, peppery mouthfeel. Nice spice kick. Interesting take on a saison.

Pours with a cloudy, golden body topped by a medium thick head with a good amount of lacing. It’s sour with a hintof sweetness, a little rye and some mustiness. Light to medium bodied, highly carbonated and dry.
