Bottle shared by Mari. Aroma is slight chocolate and some fruit that is hard to place, almost candy like. Appearance is rich brown with nice head that dissipates rather quickly. Taste is chocolate, slight rye and a finish of carbonated coffee. As it warms some toffee comes out but in a bitter way, maybe from the rye. Overall, light mouthfeel makes this a little lacking for me. bigwesticle (37) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - NOV 17, 2012
Solid offering from my hometown. Very chocolatey smooth porter with a nice subtle rye spice. Creamy head with a light but creamy body. Aroma is roasty chocolate with but pretty light as well. Always one of my go to beers. beerproject (129) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 11, 2012
Aroma is light with notes of chocolate, coffee and rye. Taste has a little bitterness up front followed by chocolate, rye and a touch of coffee. It finishes with a lingering bitterness, very well balanced porter. hopheadsbrew (142) - Illinois, USA - SEP 1, 2012
Dark chocolate color. Thick creamy tan head. Chocolate on the nose. Low corbonation. Light body. Very chocolatey. Clean finish. nearbeer (5462) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - AUG 16, 2012
12 oz. Opaque ebony with a lasting quarter inch of foam. Aroma is lightly bitter cocoa, berry, espresso with cream, and hints of char and green spicy herb. Flavor has a bit more peppery spice. Along with the char and espresso, the rye provides a good balance to the big toasted malt, lightly fruity English ale yeast, and lactose notes. Medium body is well balanced, has a bit too much carbonation for my tastes, but is overall an interesting and very sessionable porter.

Comfortably toasty. Nothing overpowering about this one, just a solid porter. Goes great with a little dark chocolate as an after dinner beer. SSSteve (4006) - - JUL 11, 2012
bottle. medium dark pour, not quite black, with a small tan head. fruity nose with raisins. not the most robust porter with toasted grains and dark fruits. lighter bodied porter. jzzbassman (1638) - Arlington, Texas, USA - JUL 4, 2012
Bottle. Pours a deep reddish brown with a slight but long lasting off white head. Aroma of chocolate, toasted caramel, and nuts. Nice bready rye flavor that is a good match for the malt. Interesting and long finish. XmnwildX12 (2079) - Farmington, Minnesota, USA - JUN 30, 2012
Has some really nice sweet whiskey scents, the taste is similar with hints of vanilla, easy drinking.

Draft. Deep brown body with a tan head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel with a hint of rye bread. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, moderate carbonation. A sweet porter that is thin in the mouth as compared to richer porters like Founders. Still, tastes of malt and chocolate and coffee with a bit of rye twang.
