Brewed initially for export to USA.
A lmited amount of kegs were released in NZ as Motueka Warrior (as a part of the annual Motueka/Yakima collaboration with Liberty Brewing)

The beer was then brewed for NZ, Aus and Italy under the Digital IPA label. It will be available throughout the southern hemisphere summer of 2011.

NZ Bottle:
This limited-release India Pale Ale (IPA) is an aggressive wee beast that is dedicated to our friend Joseph Wood of Liberty Brewing and to all those hopheads who love drinking IPA day in, day out.
Just as the term digital is all about zeroes and ones, the concept of IPA is all about malts and hops. Enjoy the rich golden malt backbone of Digital while you can... then feel it closing in as the fruity Motueka-grown hops dominate your palate and don’t ever fade away.

IPA as it should be.

This ale is open source - you may not be able to download the beer itself but feel free to grab the recipe at

11.2oz bottle. Poured into my DFH IPA glass. Clear golden yellow color. Little off-white head. Good dots and ropes of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, crisp, light carbonation, lightly dry texture. Very easy to drink. Nice grassy grapefruit and orange citrus hop aroma, very awesome. Moderate bitter taste, some big zestiness, light sweet, lightly tangy. Great IPA. Very interesting flavor profile. Another winner from Yeastie Boys. My new favorite NZ brewery?

Fruity aroma, a little hoppy, quite strong, a very nice drop and It’s not really my favourite style if beer. Will drink it again.

The head is ok, the body clear and golden. It smells flowery, fruity, hoppy. The taste is flowery, hoppy, creamy, strange-interesting. Ok.

Sweet sweet syrupy malts and hops on the nose and in the flavour and taste. Hops give me the impression of the syrup of cans of fruit salad have been added to the brew. The beverage seems to mellow after that initial shock of sweetness.  Big bodied this ipa is a slow drinking winter or autumn warmer. Nice bitterness toward the end of the beverage helps the beer from that initial sweet shock.

HopRedHead (397) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUL 4, 2013
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours golden orange/brown with a short, white head. Tropical fruits, pine needles and resin aroma. Nice fruity flavour with a sweet malt backbone. Relative bitterness, good beer.

11.2 oz bottle. Pours a dark gold like urine after a night of tequila drinking with almost no head. Aroma of an old smokey hotel room. Smells like ashes, wood, a bit of citrus, and resin. Taste very dry and bitter. Has a skunky taste to it. Ashtray, rotten citrus rinds, and a bit of dirt. Old leaves and rotten citrus rinds. A compost heap. Makes my taste buds want to run away. A bit sour tart sweet and bitter. Making the buds go crazy. Definitely not feeling this IPA!

Damico (3146) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 14, 2013
Pours cloudy golden with a light orange hue and foamy white head. The aroma brings some light, fruity, New Zealand hops, but vague. I think the beer is a bit dead, but the body is overcarbonated for sure. The flavor has some light unique grassy like New Zealand hops for sure and then dies quickly on the palate.

Bottle from K&G. Great IPA. Aromas of tea leaves, and subtle caramel and citrus. Taste is sweet and bitter; long. Velvety, medium bodied. Amber, with a frothy head.

Dorqui (2303) - Brescia, ITALY - JUN 2, 2013
Bottled 0,33L Amber reddish charged color, little fraught aspect with a modest head of short resistance. Very fruity hop aroma with notes of cortex. A litte unbalanced mouth with a pleasant hop and grapes taste. Long bitter final.

lliams (204) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAY 28, 2013
different for sure. there’s some earthy, leafy aromas going on- and some genuine soil type characters. malt profile is complex bright and candied with contrasting light savoury tones. hops seem balanced but oldskool alpha kinda which is a slight detriment i think. but very good
