Funny chili with a smoke. The aroma and taste are surprising, but just not good enough...
(Thank you!) Sampled draft @ Billie's Craft Beer Fest 2017. Orange, little white. Nose is nice smoked paprika, smoked chilli. Taste is low vegetable, nice hot sauce, smoked paprika, low hop, oily body, very nice chilli profile. Nicely done, maybe not something really want a full bottle of. Keg at Craft Beer Calling, Newcastle Upon Tyne. Hazy amber. All the aromatic strengths of smoked cheese and a really nice chilli warmth. This beer is awesome!

Bottle 330 ml from HonestBrew. Aromas of mainly smoke but there are some hoppy fruitiness and spices too. Small cream white head and pale amber hazy body. Taste is bitter and hoppy with fruitiness, smoke and hot spiciness that leaves a pleasant burn in your throat for quite a while. I don't usually like smoked beers, but this one is not bad. Aroma: Medium smoke and citrus on first sniff, but the smoke quickly overpowers the citrus. The smoke is somewhere between camp fire and smoked meat.
Appearance: Brilliant, copper body. A medium, off-white head with medium sized bubbles and good retention. Lacing.
Flavour: Medium smoke. Medium bitterness. Medium-light citrus, tropical fruit. A malty sweetness is present and seems to build. The smoke and bitterness cuts through most of it, but it does become a bit heavy later on. Dry finish with lingering, more balanced smoke and citrus.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium carbonation, creamy.
Overall: Although the beer is smoke forward, the IPA is still there, standing just off-center. As a stand-alone beer, I am struggling with this beer, but I am sure that it will go really well paired with food, especially a braai (BBQ) or breakfast (with loads of bacon). The sweetness builds a bit, making the beer feel heavy. The chilies are missing in aroma, flavour and burn.
