Very fruity, slightly phenolic nose. Smooth, rounded body. Soft flavours. Some ripe vine fruit, chocolate, stone fruit and a richness to the finish. Well developed and a unique aftertaste (some root/aniseed?). mkel07 (6546) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - AUG 27, 2012
On tap at Archive. A murky dark brown tea like colour with a mild aroma and a full mouthfeel. The flavour is quite good. Brodies_Best (324) - Auckland Central, NEW ZEALAND - AUG 27, 2012

Clear copper-russet colour with a good cream coloured head sitting in a persistent scum across the top of the beer. Aromas are of that lovely coppery Belgian malt character that puts you in mind of toffee-apples, caramel and the prospect that you may be a little light headed at the end of the beer (a feeling I confess I particularly enjoy). A rather autumnal character this beer.
The flavour is warm and reflective of the theme. Dark caramels, stewed golden fruit, parhaps a little bit of plum and treacle tart. It is a lip smacking enticement of an ale: one that is best enjoyed piece by piece while the weather does the wild thing against the windows while you sit in restful contemplation by the fire with the dog on your feet. I would suggest enjoying this with your mother, but a glass of this would turn mine a little bit silly. Mind you, it is a good alternative to mulled wine as it has many of the characters and the lovely spicy finish without the enduring smell of death coming from your slow cooker.
