3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
I’m writing this at about half-past-seven, Christmas Evening, and already have had a few beers out in the sunny Wellington, New Zealand sunshine. So, excuse me if I don’t get too fanciful when I describe this Burton-style IPA as a beer. A good beer. A beery-beer. If there were to be a "standard model" of a beer, encompassing all the common traits held by a good beer, this might be it. It doesn’t explode on the nose, rather there’s a wafting hint of fermented yeasts, alcohol and hops, and in the mouth it has that big solid feel of ’beer’. And a lingering bitterly refreshing aftertaste that says ’this beer was nice, have another’.
All up, I quite liked this beer. However, I feel that the 7% alcohol might be well hidden by the rather sessionable beery qualities, so enjoy in moderation!
