Tapped out black brown. 34ºSRM. I’m guessing here because when it comes to the darker end of the spectrum I start to become less confident about color.
Nose has smoke and the tang of ripe stone fruit. The smoke and slightly fruity sour of a porter is for me invariably reminiscent of curing tobacco with the sour smoky tang.
Mouthfeel is watery. Palate has tons of dry ume, but without having the physical quality on the palate of being dry. There is woodsmoke, and burnt toast, black bread. 0.355l can (I guess since its all in Japanese) @ Apollon. Quite deep and dark in the glass this one, near black actually and not much of a head really. A thin sidesticking brown film perhaps. Smells nice and roasted. Lots of chocolate here. Dark chocolate, rich cold coffee, cocoa hints and a little vanilla trace. Nice aroma. Light oily texture in the mouth, almost a little watery and it’s about average on the bubbles. Tastes alright also. Light roasted, dry burnt, traces of both cardboard and thin coffee. Huge aroma of nice dark chocolate. Taste is fairly bitter with a lot of espresso.

P- Medium full body, average texture, average carbonation, smooth finish.
O- A darn tasty porter. I’ve come to love this brewery called Yo-Ho during my time in Japan. Please come to the US now. A really nicely done Porter. Cask @ Ushi Tora. Looks great, nice and black with a bubbly cask head. Has a chocolatey, roasty nose. Palate is complex dark sugars and smokiness, hints of dark chocolate. Good body. Top porter.
