COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tokyo Black is the second brand at YoHo. A robust porter, well balanced between the malt and the hops. The complex chocolate and roast flavours of dark specialty malts are combined with a floral and slightly spiciness from Perle hops.

Can at Taps, KL. It pours jet black with a medium tan head. The nose is rich roast, coffee, toast, earth, cocoa and umami notes. The taste is bitter, roasty, toast, peppery spice, dark chocolate, ash and umami edge with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty robust and rather tasty. Nice stuff.

bhensonb (16139) - Woodland, California, USA - NOV 5, 2011
Can from The Davis Beer Shoppe in Davis, CA. Pours really dark ruddy brown/black with a 3 finger foamy/creamy dark tan head. Aromas of chocolate and burnt malt. Med body. Starts smokey, develops chocolate. Gets a little prickly hop. Then some really burnt malt. Then repeat that. Almost astringent in the finish. Better than your average porter.

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons, brewed in the UK at Marstons. Jet black with tan head. I kept popping in to my local Spoons to get hold of this and perhaps I built it up too highly in my own mind, but I was a tad disappointed. It was soft and silky, yes, smooth, but there was not much else happening. Some faint liquorice perhaps or a touch of coffee, but it could have been better. It’s ok.
