Cask; Special. This new beer has been brewed especially for this JDW beer festival. It has an inviting reddish colour and pleasing aroma, leading to a malty and slightly dry flavour and leaving a lingering, pleasant aftertaste.
Hops used: Bramling Cross, Saaz
Cask Pint at Wibbas Down (JDW), Wimbledon, London in Oct 2009 - Dark Amber in colour. Malty; caramel, light toffee, nuts. Fruity; citrus-orange. Hoppy; earthy hops . Nutty malty throughout. Very drinkable. Nice beer! (2009-10)
Sampled this ruby ale in Esquire House, Glasgow (JDW) in November 2009. Cask, handpump dispense. Crystal clear copper red in colour with a thin white head. A slight malty aroma but short in intensity. Thin resiny mouthfeel with poor lacing. Pale malts give a robust biscuity malt note with a slight tang of tart redcurrant fruit. Dry hops give a bitter resiny aftertaste which leads to a short sweet crisp green apple note in at the finish. An ok session ale but really lacking body and complexity though.
