(50 cl bottle) Dark brown colour with a creamy beige head. Aroma of cocoa, milk chocolate and roasted, with notes of vanilla and hints of dried wood. Light to medium bitterness, with just a little bit of sweetness. Texture is neither sticky nor chewy, but I would not call it thin either. Carbonation is soft. Finish is dryish, with a cocoa/chocolate aftertaste. Good, but you have to be in the mood for chocolate and cocoa to enjoy it.

On tap at The Pub. Aroma is chocolate as advertised. It’s definitely more balanced than I expected from the name.

Bottle. Black with a beautiful head and nice lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, a dose of butter and some rum. Taste is top level dark chocolate, cocoa, vanilla and chocolate cake. Aftertaste shows some hops and espresso. I’m happy that the taste doesn’t get too sweet and stays on the bitter and dry side. Low carbonation. Could be a little bit more creamy as it feels a tad bit watery. Still it’s an amazing dessert beer! Though I gotta admit half a litre is quite a lot.

Another one ticked of the most rated beer list. Bottle at home from Tesco. A clear dark nut brown coloured pour with a lasting mid tan froth. Aroma is woody chocolate, charred wood, hints of burnt cocoa, tangy fruits, dusty powdery chocolate. Flavour is composed of dry woody chocolate, bitter powdered chocolate, light berry fruits, shortbread, woody finish. slight metal bite in the finish. Palate is dry and slightly abrasive, highish carbonation. Pretty good.
