From tap at Charlies. Pours pitch black with a huge creamy tan head. Light roasted malt aroma with a light oatmeal note. Smoth mouthfeel. Flavour is light roasted and mild chocolate flavoured. Light roasted finish with a very nice smoothness. Light sweetness and mild alcohol note in the finish.

A black beer with a beutiful light brown head. The aroma is with notes of smoke. The flavor is very light with a dryness and notes of smoke. Too thin for a stout especially for an oatmeal stout.

Bottled. Black with rich, creamy, stable head. Licorice aroma. Surprisingly dry nose with a hint of coffee. Clean and bold mouthfeel, sweeter finish with some tar and medium bitterness. Pretty good, but not really as firm as I remembered it.

fiulijn (20497) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 8, 2003
Black color. Nice aroma of roasted malts, but vanishing quickly. Dry flavor, of roasted malt, but really too watery, leaving just some bitterness at the end, and a terrible lack of flavors and complexity.
