50cl bottle from a trade with fonefan, many thanks! A black beer with a huge most good lasting tan head. Sweet malt aroma, rich chocolate, some lactose. Taste of sweet chocolate, mild roasted malt, vanilla, lactose.

500 ml bottle bought at Gorgeous Wine & Cigar in Yuen Long.

Looks: Clear, deep ruby brown colour with faint trace of yeast particles; Three finger head with crumpety beige foam which last for 3 minutes; Very good sticky lacing with near zero carbonation.

Aroma: Very fragrant dark malt, with pretty strong roastyness, strong caramel, sticky toffee, hot chocolate, coffee, rich cream, floral, sugar, light spices, dry bread, yeast, and fair grass. Very comfy!

Taste: Mid to light sweet dark malt, with strong metallic, strong roastyness, caramel, burnt toffee, toast, dark chocolate, black coffee, cream, floral, fair molasses, strong earth, dark bread, yeast, lemon, strong bitter hops and strawy grass.

Body: Medium body, Thick and creamy palate.

Mouth Feel: Good dark maltyness in a rich and creamy background, with strong oat-influenced smoothness. Roasty, quite toasty burnt characters (toffee, dark bread) came through, with good dark chocolate and fair dark coffee well-complemented by light cream and light sweetness. Flowery, earthy strawy hops with lemon to round. Very nice!

Hoppiness: Light spices, floral and fair grass in nose. Earth, floral, lemon and strawy grass in taste; Bitterness - burnt malt and hops - is quite strong for a lasting, close to high astringent bitter-sweet dark malt finish.

After Taste: Dry. Roasty grassy and bitter to mouth.

Comments: Thos one may not be as colorful as Young’s Double Chocolate Stout, but it has a delicate hot chocolate aroma, roast malty taste with expressive oat creaminess toasty bitterness and strong earthy bitter hops. Fulfilling, hoppy yet easy to drink. Definitely a good one to enjoy!

Bottle from Tallinna Kaubamaja. As London Stout. Pours brown with steady yellow-beige head. Lovely roasty aroma, nearing burnt and ashy, some sourish berries and black bread crust. Tastes roasty and mellow sweet with a bitter and sour berry layer. Velvety soft mouthfeel, carbonation with only the tiniest prickliness, body light to medium. Absolutely beautiful.

500ml bottle as "London Stout" 5.2% abv. Pitch black color. Medium size, brownish-yellow head, stays. Roast, spicy hops, oatmeal, grainy in aroma. Nice mellow roast, herbal hops, some nuttiness and smooth silky milky tones in taste. Smooth and silky roast with some nuts in aftertaste. Soft carbonation. Goes down very easy. Slight metallic hops in late aftertaste. Brilliant stout!

Bottle as Young’s London Stout (5.2%). Typical dark body with a medium tall creamy head. Pleasant roasty aroma with plenty of oat roast. Smooth oaty taste with some milky sweetness. Nice hoppy/roasty finish. A solid classic stout, not much that needs describing here.

Good (but not exceptional) execution of a nice style. So dark and roasty that it tastes more of coal than of coffee or chocolate. I don’t find it as creamy as advertised, body is no more than average for the style. Pleasant to drink!

That was a pleasant surprise. Dry, creamy nature like Guinness, maybe a bit more pronounced roast, but still highly drinkable.

0,5 l bottle. Pours dark ruby red with a good finger of tan, thick lasting head. Aroma of roasted malts, light coffee and chocolate, some dried fruit and a bit of grassy hops. Strong flavor of roasted malts, complemented by coffee, chocolate, sweet caramel. Light bitterness. Body is light to medium, not as creamy as some other oatmeal stouts with average carbonation. Lacing is superb. Nice, very drinkable stout.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
