COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Seasonal - October to January.
Production moved from Youngs to Wells & Youngs in October 2006. Brand acquired solely by Charles Wells in 2011.
Ingredients: Maris Otter and crystal malt with cane sugar added to the copper with Fuggle and Golding hops.
The definitive winter beer and a long-time Young’s favourite, Winter Warmer is a champion cask ale that is an essential warmer during the winter months.
"Rich ruby coloured beer, almost red in bright light. Complex fruity nose with hints of candy. Luscious and full bodied, with a powerful mouth-coating flavour leading to a bittersweet, vinous finish."

Cask 3 judges, ultimate glasgow tasting afters pub crawl. Poured a dark brown. The aroma was malt with spices and fruit. The taste was very nice with malts and sweetness.

On tap Mahar’s. Very nice amber pour, smell of sweet malt and caramel. A hint of bitter fruit taste, goes down smooth.

Cask at Biggleswade Rugby Club. Lovely dark amber colour, plenty of malts with a real malty flavour. The beer has a sweet finsh. A very good beer of it;s type.

Cask (The King’s Arms, Oxford) Youngs version. Stonkingly good strong ale, even if a little weak for a strong (it was 5.6 % back when I was regularly drinking it). Subdued spicy sweet and malty aroma. Much more in the taste. Massive complex fruity and sweet nougaty components augment a huge brown malty body. One of my favourites.

One of the seasonal ales from Youngs. Subtle taste - on the opposite end of the scale from the Special London Ale. A bit on the sweet side with a nice nutty finish.

[CASK: The Salisbury Ale House, Manchester 07/12/06] A reasonable winter ale. Not bad and overall quite good. Should try if you can.

A dark ruby colured ale, with a light malt nose and a deep dark malt flavour. that for me didnt work

Draft: served at C4 good english hoppy but a bit weak to be a ESB, the feel is almost like butter, and it has a bit of diacityl, ok for the style.

Cask, Angel & Grayhound, Oxford. Caramel brown with a light tan head. Toffee and raisin aroma. Roast flavor, slight astringency, soft plums. Could use a bit more texture, but still a nice wintery sort of ale.
