COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Seasonal - October to January.
Production moved from Youngs to Wells & Youngs in October 2006. Brand acquired solely by Charles Wells in 2011.
Ingredients: Maris Otter and crystal malt with cane sugar added to the copper with Fuggle and Golding hops.
The definitive winter beer and a long-time Young’s favourite, Winter Warmer is a champion cask ale that is an essential warmer during the winter months.
"Rich ruby coloured beer, almost red in bright light. Complex fruity nose with hints of candy. Luscious and full bodied, with a powerful mouth-coating flavour leading to a bittersweet, vinous finish."

Nothing signafies the count down to my festive activities like my first pint of this amazing winter ale. This seasonal beer could only be improved by being available all year round!

Cask at the Fox & Anchor. A deep dark brown in the glass with a minimal head. This was an old fashioned winter warmer that was very simple in its flavour profile with plenty of malt and a strong hit of caramel. There was a lot of flavour for a 5% beer, but in no way sessionable. Once again I come away from drinking a Young's beer mulling on its simplicity and trying to work out if that is a good or a bad thing.

Cask. Dark Amber Gold. Fruity; dark fruit, raisins, berries. Spicy. Malty; bready malts, toffee, quite nutty. Hoppy; some hop bitterness. Sweet-bitter fruity malty. Bitter finish. (2008)

Cask at the Calthorpe Arms, London on 4th January 2017. Deep copper with virtually no head or lacing. Spicy malt aroma. Sweet malts, touch of fruit and some hints of leafy hop in-mouth. Malty, slightly toasty in the finish. Fair bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Rated as-is. Had I tried to compare with the original Young’s version, the fields above would have been populated with different values.

Ruby in color with almost no head. Not much different than most real ales, but a good beer none the less.
