Nothing signafies the count down to my festive activities like my first pint of this amazing winter ale. This seasonal beer could only be improved by being available all year round!

Cask at the Fox & Anchor. A deep dark brown in the glass with a minimal head. This was an old fashioned winter warmer that was very simple in its flavour profile with plenty of malt and a strong hit of caramel. There was a lot of flavour for a 5% beer, but in no way sessionable. Once again I come away from drinking a Young's beer mulling on its simplicity and trying to work out if that is a good or a bad thing.

Cask at the Calthorpe Arms, London on 4th January 2017. Deep copper with virtually no head or lacing. Spicy malt aroma. Sweet malts, touch of fruit and some hints of leafy hop in-mouth. Malty, slightly toasty in the finish. Fair bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Rated as-is. Had I tried to compare with the original Young’s version, the fields above would have been populated with different values. Parmenion777 (380) - Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 17, 2016

Ruby in color with almost no head. Not much different than most real ales, but a good beer none the less.
