On tap at Festival Cervezorama, Madrid. Looking quite dark with a thin to medium head. Aroma is herby, trees, hops and fruits. Is this really an imperial porter? So much hops in here makes this almost a black ipa.

Torrefacto (1649) - Madrid, SPAIN - AUG 5, 2013
Color negro con reflejos caobas y espuma beige generosa. Aromas lupulados, maltas torrefactas y ligero alcohol.

small coffee coloured head with a rather special pattern and disappears with lacing. dark coffee colour that doesnt let light through. pronounced aroma of hops and some toasted malts. taste is slight sweet, coffee with a pronounced bitterness and a long aftertaste. quite dense body. draft @ el pedal / notes from backlog
PS. was the wax really necessary on the bottled version? its just messy ...

750ml swing-top bottle from Cervezorama 2.0 in Madrid. Pours a black body with an inch thick, dense, creamy and foamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is roasty and citrusy with lots of grapefruits and a nice dark chocolate malt backing. Pine resins, caramel, bread, and touches of licorice. Flavor is similar. Lots of resiny, piney grapefruits up front before a nice roastiness comes in. A good amount of dark chocolate, some caramel, bread, and hints of licorice balance the hops nicely. Finishes dry, bitter, roasty, and piney with lots of grapefruits before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Medium-full body and a soft, moderately active carbonation. Overall, a really nice hoppy porter. Lots of grapefruit pine resins, but plenty of roasts and chocolate to balance. Great beer.

Bottle shared by haggerty. Pours dark brown with a toasty aroma and a modest tan head. There is a rich chocolate and dark molasses flavor with a dry oak finish. Very tasty.
