Rootbeer color with faint caramel aroma. Taste is very plain, no chocolate, no roast, no coffee, slight caramel. Palate is clean and smooth but thin. Beer #6 in a mixed pack of 6 dark beers. The weakest flavor of the bunch but I prefer it over the two that were very roasted/smokey. If you like this beer take a look at Saranac Black Forest. berkshirejohn (6660) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 2, 2015
12oz bottle from Wegmans, Buffalo, NY. A deep mahogany colour with a reddish glow and a ring of cream head; caramel aroma with a hint of chocolate; soft smooth caramel taste with a touch of spicy; and a tracely finish. A reasonable porter. akatvdago (3) - - DEC 3, 2014 does not count
Pours very dark with dark tan head that is short-lived. Taste of caramel is most prevalent. Leaves a bitter metallic after taste on the tongue. BiddleBrau (1238) - Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 9, 2014
Bottle, black with decent tan head. Roasted malt nose. Chocolate up front, dry roast finish. Slightly coats the tongue. One of the better standards by Americas oldest. ElCapitan22 (363) - Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 2, 2014
Pours a dark molasses color with no head retention and no lacing. Tastes malty and of chocolate. A smooth finish makes this a solid porter.

"a little more chocolate and coffee present in the aroma and flavor, with a decent but slightly overcarbonated body. near black in color, and pretty aromatic. nicely done, if not a standout."

not the best but easy to find and easy to drink best beer yuedling makes and I can find it every where I buy this everywhere so I love it ! EyeAmBaldman (461) - Illinois, USA - AUG 8, 2014
Pours dark mahogany with a one finger caramel head that dissipates too quickly with zero lacing in the glass. Aroma is mostly roasted malt. Taste is roasted malt and maybe a bit of caramel and metal. There’s a smoky finish but not in a good way. I really like Yuengling Lager as my go to "slumming" beer, but this one is not very good. jmcgavin12 (492) - Madison, USA - JUL 10, 2014
Pours a dark brown with some frothy tan head. Aroma of toasted malt and caramel. Body is a bit thin with roasted sweetness and a smooth oily finish sawbuck (762) - Round Lake, Illinois, USA - JUL 9, 2014
Hint of roasty caramel/molasses on the nose. Redish ebony on the pour with a head that leaves quicklly. Roasty sweet malt first. Smooth. Finishes sweet and dry. Slick mouth feel. Average.
