Draft at Oktoberfest ZInzinnati on September 22, 2012. Amber/red/pink (yes, pink) hue, small head, aroma that’s equal parts pale lager and toasted malt, flavor that’s a cross between Yuengling Traditional Lager and a standard marzen with a bit of astringency. Somewhat strange but drinkable.

For the price, it’s a great beer. It hits all of the points the way it should, and coincidentally is where it also fails - it’s ordinary. If they upped their game, a little more, it would be extraordinary.

I poured it from the bottle into a pint glass. It pours amber with a fluffy, off-white head and lacing. The aroma is caramel and hay. The taste is caramel, hay, grain, and toast. It's smooth up front with some nice carbonation on the back end. This is a solid version of the style.

Poured into a dimpled mug, copper color with off white head, minimal lacing. Smell of toast, caramel, grass notes. Taste of caramel, bread, with a slight touch of hops at the back end. Very smooth mouth feel with slight corn aftertaste. I drank quite a few 6 packs of this last year but didn't rate it. Not as good as Sam Adams Oktoberfest, but for 2 dollars less a 6 packs after 2 its just as good. Strongly recommend while its in season.

Yuengling Oktoberfest has a thick, beige head, a mostly clear, copper appearance, with lots of fine, white suspended sediment, and some glass lacing. Aroma is muted, but one can pick up some glutinous brown bread notes, and flavor is of sweet, slightly bitter, brown bread crust. Mouthfeel is medium, and Yuengling Oktoberfest finishes crisp, clean, and refreshing. RJT

Pours clear red-amber with a 2-finger off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, maybe a touch of nuttiness. Body is a bit lighter than medium, and a touch watery. Brief finish, light dryness. Caramel and nutty malt flavors with a touch of citrus hops that lingers at the back.

bottle. Poured clear orangeamber-amber with a creamy beige head. Bready malt aroma. Medium-light body, actively carbonated, creamy texture, slight acidic finish. Flavour of caramel malt, a bit grainy and tart with cinnamon spice.

12 ounce bottle into dimpled mug, bottled on 7/29/2016. Pours crystal clear deep orange.copper color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Some light yeast fruitiness as well. Taste of big brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Minimal herbal/spicy hop and toasted malt bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Minimal dryness. Fairly clean on lager flavors; some fruitiness in the aromas, but minimal in the taste. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready/grainy mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.45%. Overall this is a very good Oktoberfest style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, clean, and refreshing to drink. Very malty and flavorful for the ABV, with just enough hops for balance. A very enjoyable offering.
