2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Not too shabby. Everything you’d expect from an oktoberfest, and reasonably priced. A little bland and thin, but a nice aroma, with a little spice. Not the best example of the style, but a fair one, and not my favorite Yuengling beer, but it is tasty. Light maltiness and a bit of yeast is apparent, which I love. Maybe some nondescript nuts, perhaps hazelnuts. I’ll probably spring for another sixer or two of this $6.99 seasonal before it is gone, which means I think fairly highly of it. Still thankful that Yuengling began distributing in Ohio, and that we have begun to get their seasonals and lower-volume sellers. Yum!
*edit* Good call by Berkshirejohn to say this is almost like a brown ale, because it is!

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours clear red-amber with a 2-finger off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, maybe a touch of nuttiness. Body is a bit lighter than medium, and a touch watery. Brief finish, light dryness. Caramel and nutty malt flavors with a touch of citrus hops that lingers at the back.

bottle. Poured clear orangeamber-amber with a creamy beige head. Bready malt aroma. Medium-light body, actively carbonated, creamy texture, slight acidic finish. Flavour of caramel malt, a bit grainy and tart with cinnamon spice.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle into dimpled mug, bottled on 7/29/2016. Pours crystal clear deep orange.copper color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Some light yeast fruitiness as well. Taste of big brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Minimal herbal/spicy hop and toasted malt bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Minimal dryness. Fairly clean on lager flavors; some fruitiness in the aromas, but minimal in the taste. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready/grainy mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.45%. Overall this is a very good Oktoberfest style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, clean, and refreshing to drink. Very malty and flavorful for the ABV, with just enough hops for balance. A very enjoyable offering.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 ounce bottle from my Uncle Don’s (that’s Don, my real uncle, not Dan, my hyperreal uncle, for those faithful few who follow Muzzle’s every mystifying masturbatory musing) garage fridge in Caldwell, OH, drunk a little above cellar temp from a large juice glass. No, I’m not really back into the true tasting game - I didn’t bring my own glass(es) along on this trip, and have to settle with inappropriate glassware that will undoubtedly make any ratings written tonight or tomorrow night invalid and pointless. Anyway....dark amber to copper, clear, smallish off-white quick-dying head...lightly smoky-sweet cereal-grainy aroma, hints of soap and a mineral touch I can’t quite put my finger on...lightly sweet body initial flavor characteristic carries through to the finish, a touch of herbal roughness, a rather poorly extracted malt note that comes off as dry, stale cereal floating in tepid water...the sweetness is rather sugary and artificial and the finish is somewhat cardboardy and cottony on the tongue. I’m probably making it sound actually worse than it is; truth be told this is somewhat drinkable, but just. Hopefully the last Oktoberfest of the season, I’ve had enough for now.

Pours amber with a thin white head. Aroma is yeast esters with a hint of caramel sweet malt. Flavor is crisp but with little else to it. There is a slight funk to the aftertaste.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Picked up at a gas station in Zaynesville, OH. It poured an amber color with an off-white head. The aroma was of cereal, caramel malts and some hop notes. The taste was similar to the aroma with more cereal, light caramels, mild toffee, toast and some mild bitterness. Decent.

Quite malty and great to dirnk as many Yuenglings, my shameful secret. MArzenish and very thick for these type.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
This is an Oktoberfest Light. Everything about it is thin and bland. It looks okay but disappoints on aroma, taste, and mouthfeel. The requisite elements are there but not in adequate quantities. It’s not really significantly different from the regular Yuengling lager.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Plain nose. A bit of brown bread, caramel, some minerals, and a bit of candy. A touch of peach comes out later. Amber-orange, clear, with a low, fine head. Plain, thin, fruity flavor, a bit of apple, caramel, bread, minerally hops. Drinkable but a bit watery.
