Can at my parents house. It pours a dark chestnut color with a fizzy light tan head. The aroma has light cocoa powder, caramel, and toast. The flavor is more toasted with hints of cocoa powder, rice and corn adjusts. Light bodied with very light bitterness. Easy to drink. Not bad actually. (bottle) Pours a dark brown complexion with dissipating tan head. Some biscuit and steel aroma. The flavor is a mellowed malt with some rich roasted qualities. Watery palate. sjkrieth (3) - Niles, Michigan, USA - AUG 21, 2016 does not count
A great dark beer that is a combination of their Porter and Lager. 60% Porter 40 % Lager. A great caramel flavor - Great with or with out food.

Bottle - Pours dark brown, no head to speak of. Weak aroma of dark malt, dry toast. First sip was mostly weak coffee and biscuits. Some hops in the after. tfontana (1089) - Fremont, New Hampshire, USA - JUN 22, 2016
Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from One Stop Market. Aroma is bread, lager yeast. Appearance is dark mahogany with sparkle at edges of the glass, two finger-width foamy beige head with good retention and mild lacing. Taste is light flavor of roasted malts with more overpowering pedestrian lager flavor. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, lively carbonation and abrupt finish. Overall, I was intrigued by the bready aroma and roasted malt flavor but then someone poured a Yuengling lager in it. There might be a decent porter in here somewhere--but this is way more tan than black. irishfist18 (16) - - JUN 11, 2016

Having just moved to S.C. from Northwest Washington State I have never heard of this brewing company. Come East and find out it’s the oldest in the nation. I found this Black and Tan on the shelf of the local BiLo and decided to give it a try. All I can say is, I’m very impressed. To think all this flavor and complexity for a fraction of the price of Guinness, or Murphy’s. I’m a buyer for life.

12 oz. Bottle. This is simply delicious. Porter meets Pilsner. Soft hints of caramel and grains. Tastes of caramel, coffee, chocolate & wheat. The pilsner aspect keeps the porter from giving that strong aftertaste that porters can give. Bravo yuengling!!
