An iconic American lager famous for its rich amber color and medium-bodied flavor - with a roasted caramel malt for a subtle sweetness and a combination of cluster and cascade hops, this true original delivers a well-balanced taste with very distinct character.

UPDATED: JAN 21, 2006 Tap. Not too bad at all for a beer you can find everywhere (in NC anyway). Pretty amber tinted honey gold with a quickly dissipating white head. Aroma of corn, malt, grain, sweat (not B.O). I promise, that is better than it sounds. Flavor is on the airy side, but not fleeting; malt, wildflower honey, non-wheat whole grains. Smooth, well balanced, and finishes squeaky clean. Nice body puts most lagers to shame, but crisp enough to still be thirst quenching. This beer smells and tastes like hard work (I mean that in the best possible sense). If I was working long days in a Philly Steel mill, this is exactly what I would want to drink. Normally I don’t give a rats ass about lagers, but there is something abut this beer that makes even this cynical sociologist patriotic. This is what I imagine they were drinking at the sit down strikes in Flint back in the day. The union marches on.

My go to cheaper beer, this has yet to disappoint. The aroma is inoffensive, appearance is about what you'd expect, taste is sufficient, and palate is passable. The main reason I give this such a high score is it's local availability at $20 for a case of 24.

Appearance: amber, clear, rocky head, minimal head, white foam. Aroma: sourish, bread, slightly roasty. Taste: lightly bitter, medium sourness. Palate: medium body, creamy, average carbonation, lively, astringent, light bitter aftertaste.

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2018 Sampled from a very cold bottle. Clear amber colour. Hardly any aroma. Taste is sugary malt and not much else. Candy sugar predominates. No mouthfeel or aftertaste, and not much noticeable bitterness. Pretty boring stuff.

This is my favorite all time lager style beer. Nothing else has ever come close.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2018 1/4/18 With Abby while watching Better Call Saul. Poured from bottle. Medium amber with ample 2 finger head. Nose is grainy malt with a slight metallic/hop funk. Taste is the same. Grainy, bready malt with that noticeable metallic hop presence. On the sweet side and quite tasty. Nicely balanced for as light as it is. Light feel with medium carbonation. Goes down super easy. Overall, an exemplary lager. Nothing spectacular flavor-wise but it’s got a great “berry” taste and I’ll definitely have many more!

(can) slightly opalescent deep amber colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of watermelon and powdered sugar, with some notes of earth, raisins and chlorine. flavour is mostly pale malts, caramel and more powdered sugar, quite thin, with a hint of cardboard and a semi-dry finish. light- to medium-bodied with average carbonation.
