Deadman Creek is an unusual name, we know! Of course, cranberries in beer is a little odd too and being different is what were really all about. With an explosion of lime lagers now out on the market, the big boys have proved what weve been saying all along flavour is good! We take an already damn fine wheat ale and add cranberries during fermentation. Then, with lots of tangy yeast flavour interacting with the tart cranberries we chooseto leave it unfiltered and then put it in bottles or kegs for your enjoyment. We decided early in the year that such a unique beer deserved some cool packaging so we tracked down former Yukoner turned Northern BCer Meghan Hildebrand to create the stunning piece featured above. To our surprise Meghan told us this was her favorite beer and she was pumped about the name we had picked. Deadman Creek, an actual creek found in the remote backcountry of the Yukon is an ode to the crazy spirits that built the north and were adventurous enough to settle this frontier. So Deadman Creek, Cranberry Wheat is hitting the shelves now and we suggest you grab a Deadman!

From a 12 oz bottle purchased at the brewery. Pours a clear gold with an off white head. Light fruity nose. Flavors of bread and a hint of berries. Crisp finish.

Pours an ever so slight hazy bronze colour. A little cloudy head with spotty lace. Starts with a cranberry tang, quickly fades to bready and toasty malt, some light herbs and grass

I had several samples at the brewery. The appearance was a nice slightly hazy golden color that didnt have any head or lacing. The smell had a faint combined cranberry and wheat with no expected grainy kick that I sometimes get in these types of beers. The taste was pretty much the same. On the palate, this one sat fairly light and sessionable. Theres no kick from the wheat or tang from the cranberry. Overall, I would say this would be a solid Summer choice for the hotter days but since I dont live in the Yukon I dont know how hot it gets there on the hotter days. Still, very worthy of coming back to.

Looks pretty: gold with a pinkish hue. Nose is wheat and faint cranberries. Taste is wheat and faint cranberries. Not great but kind of drinkable.

341 ml bottle. Pours a hazy pinkish-orange colour with a small, short lived off-white head. Aroma of wheat, yeast and light cranberry. Sweet flavour with malt, wheat, yeast and a dry, mild cranberry finish. Light body, thin texture and soft carbonation.

Sample at Picaroon's Brewer's Bash. Hazy wheat beer with a touch of pink. Some tart cranberry on the nose, but the taste has very little fruit and more whole wheat and straw. Light, refreshing body. Overall, wished it tastes like it smells. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

First of all, cranberries dont thrill me. Ill not be working for Ocean Spray anytime soon. This beer pours a hazy golden orange with almost no head. Aroma is malt and cranberries - and nothing else. The flavour had a weak tartness to it that can be attributed to the cranberries, but otherwise was a refreshing drinkable brew.

Drank from the bottle, sadly, as glassware was sorely lacking in my Yellowknife hotel. Has decent carbonation, okay brighter body. Soft, soft cranberry aroma with some maltiness. Flavour is just a hint of fruitiness with a beery malt back end and a dry finish. Drinkable, but everything about this brew needs more "oomph".

Bottle from Trevor. Pale amber with a light off white head that fades to nothing. Wheat, sweet cranberries, light malt. Little skunky, mild sweetness, mild carbonation and body, unpleasant finish.
