UPDATED: JAN 18, 2009 Bottle (341ml). Shared by GregClow with me, blankboy and garthicus. Clear ruby-amber pour with a quick-diminishing frothy off-white head. Aroma or maple syrup and dried out herbal hops. The taste is much more bitter than sweet, dry, almost like fall leaves. Average bodied, slick, weakly syrupy, leaving a burnt aftertaste. Too sweet - weird. egajdzis (6827) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 26, 2007
Poured a red amber color with a medium sized, light tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of oxidation, nuts, molasses, honey, and light smoke. Taste of citrus fruits, DMS, cocoa, light caramel, cardboard, with a bit of toffee in the finish. Boutip (6620) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 12, 2004
Bottle: Poured a clear dark copper beer with a huge head with good retention. Aroma is quite malty with some noticeable roastiness. Taste is very interesting with some notes of roastiness coming in at first and ending with a balanced bitterness. No too complex beer overall, but a good example of the style. reebtogi (6403) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 5, 2012
341ml bottle pours dark brown in color with a creamy off-white head that leaves some thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is dominated by roasted malts. Taste is roasted malty bitterness with some malty sweetness as well finishing with a light hoppy bitterness. Medium body and nice carbonation leave a pleasing mouthfeel. This is my favorite from this brewery. TimE (6256) - Tokyo, JAPAN - AUG 11, 2007
This rich dark brew offers up notes of toffee, dark fruit, dark chocolate and butterscotch. It is perhaps a bit hoppier than what one might expect for the style . For 7% it also drinks bigger with a warming finish. I could see this being an excellent beer for those cold Artic nights.

341ml bottle, shared with blackhaddock in his man cave. Many thanks to Duffman for this. Pours deep mahogany, tan head. Aroma is caramel malt. Taste is smooth deep caramel flavours, some dark fruit shading, a hint of leather. Lovely warming moreish character. Bulk_Carrier (6064) - Vermont, USA - SEP 19, 2014
From my haul down from Whitehorse earlier this month.
This one was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a black color with a slim glazing of an off white foamy and bubbly head that dissipated rather quickly. Light speckled lacing ran all around my glass.
The smell was a bit roasty, a little bit of rich caramel coated nuts and a light running bitter coffee all combine to enliven my nose, definitely English by nature.
The taste was roasty and sweet through the nuts and caramel backed up by the bitter coffee to balance. Light chocolate came in as well.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body as I found myself sipping this. The carbonation was there but nothing overbearing. A nice bitter invasiveness rolls over my tongue.
Overall, I really liked this beer and am glad to have another one going into winter. presario (4925) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 2, 2006
Frothy head on a dark ruby beer. Porter-like malt nose. Complex malt. Stout-like. Swear there is a light cherry taste in the finish. Hints of chocolate. Is this the stout without the Espresso? Toasty and tasty. A nice winter warmer. RichardGretton (4860) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 21, 2012

River, Jasper, Canada. Reddish brownish black beer with a strong light brown head. The aroma is lightly malty, and the flavour is malty with some molasses and vinous notes. Overall a pretty average ale, but I've had a beer from the Yukon. Well pleased with that.

Thanks to zzbrrt. Pours a lightly hazy ruby amber with a small bubbly off white head. Aroma of sweet malts, iced tea, leathery, caramel, tobacco, nuts and some cardboard. Flavor of tea, tobacco, caramel, nuts, dark fruits, some toffee and toasted malts.
