COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The dark chocolate appearance is reminiscent of a porter, and the slightly darkened creamy head tops the look. But the first sip lets you know that this beer can be drank, in quantity if desired (or required?), without leading to an overly full gullet. Intricate malt flavors predominate, with a medium mouth-feel and a very light bitter.

12oz bottle from Firefly in Vancouver. Couldnt find the word "Chilkoot" anywhere on the bottle label or the box...what is that about? Pours a porter-like cola brown with decent tan head that last well. Aroma is slightly sweet with strong malt notes of caramel, cocoa, some leather. Taste is fairly thick with malts, toffee (?), slight hit of alcohol, hops subdued but there in the finish. Sweeter than I like. Reminds me a lot of a porter. Its decent but not outstanding.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a ruby hue and a thick off-white head. Aroma is chocolate, dark fruit and coffee; some dark cherry and plum notes, raisin, roasty cocoa and coffee. Flavour is sweet dark fruit with some roasty bitterness. A little too sweet perhaps, but very flavourful and a really nice malty English ale.

Pours a dark brown colour with some tan head leaving little lace up the glass. Aromas of chocolate and roasted malts, bready, caramel, nutty, light dry fruit, and some sweetness. Flavours of nuts, chocolate, caramel, roasted malts, sweet, mildly bitter, mild dark dried fruit.

Sample at Picaroon's Brewer's Bash. Milk chocolate brown colour. Odd duck this one. Very English tasting, malty and complex. One could probably taste whatever one wanted somewhere in there. Overall, it works reasonably well and is worth a try. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

341ml bottle. Pours a dark brown with a ruby hue and a medium to large, creamy, long lasting, tan head that laces. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel and dried fruit. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, dried fruit and light spices with a mildly bitter, warming alcohol finish. Medium body with a smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Quite porter like. Pretty good.

Bottle from my brother in-law. Pours a deep dark as you can go copper, but more on a cola side with copper hues, almost no head or lacing. Nose is sweet caramel malt. Tastes very malty, slight bitterness. Biscuity, caramel, a bit of toffee.

Nice one from Yukon! Not normally a fan of Porters but this one was different enough to be enjoyable. Had a nice roasted malt flavour with a smooth drinkability.

Pours a very dark reddish brown with a light tan head. Has a sweet bready aroma, a little cherry, some caramel, surprisingly complex. Unfortunately the flavor seems a little bland, a light uninteresting sweetness. Palate seems slighty thin as well.

Bottled sample. Coffee nose with hints of toffee. Dark black hue with small and quickly dissipating head. Very malty flavour with coffee and notes of toffee and maybe nuts. Syrups texture with some sweetness in the finish. Superb.
