COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The dark chocolate appearance is reminiscent of a porter, and the slightly darkened creamy head tops the look. But the first sip lets you know that this beer can be drank, in quantity if desired (or required?), without leading to an overly full gullet. Intricate malt flavors predominate, with a medium mouth-feel and a very light bitter.

A gift from Sammy. Black in the pour with excellent lacing. Looked more like a stout and tasted nutty. A very nice warming drink.

Amazing winter beer from Yukon Brewing company. Everything I have had from this brewery has been outstanding. This beer smells nutty and caramelly with hints of mollases and maybe coffee. Pours a light stout like beer with a small head. Tastes as amazing as it smells. Need to try this beer and others from Yukon brewing co.

(Bottle from the brewery. Originally reviewed for Winter/08 issue of TAPS Magazine.) As a dog lover with an especially strong affinity for huskies, the label alone was enough to hook me on this beer. Luckily, the stuff on the inside of the bottle is pretty good as well. Mahogany-brown in colour with a large mocha head, it has a complex and appealing aroma of dry cocoa, dark malt, treacle and anise. The flavour follows with the same notes as the aroma off the top, combined with some dried dark fruit, followed by a hint of smoke and a nicely layered hoppiness that builds in the finish. They call it an English Strong Ale, but to me it brings to mind a robust and warming Porter. Whatever you choose to call it, it’s a fantastic winter treat.

Pour is very dark with a small creamy head. Nose is of sweet malts. Taste is bitter malts with a sweet backing and a slight bitter aftertaste. Overall not too bad but not my pick of the day.

This was the best of the Yukon beers we tried this evening. Dark and malty. Vanilla and dried fruit. Very tasty.

341ml bottle, shared with blackhaddock in his man cave. Many thanks to Duffman for this. Pours deep mahogany, tan head. Aroma is caramel malt. Taste is smooth deep caramel flavours, some dark fruit shading, a hint of leather. Lovely warming moreish character.

Oily black pour. Creamy and nutty nose with a lovely explosion of dark chocolate and toffee as soon as it hits your lips. The palate is sticky and lingering. Really good stuff.

Dark brown witha moderate tan head. Aroma is dark roasty malt, and the flavour has delicious chocolatey notes and sweet malt. Slightly roasty bitterness in the finish. A very pleasant way to start things off. Mondiale 3T (Me).

Bottle: Poured a clear dark copper beer with a huge head with good retention. Aroma is quite malty with some noticeable roastiness. Taste is very interesting with some notes of roastiness coming in at first and ending with a balanced bitterness. No too complex beer overall, but a good example of the style.

Thanks for the bottle JoeMcphee. Poured a very dark brown with a thin tan head. The aroma is very roasty. The flavour is initially roasted malt followed by a nice sweetness and just a hint of bitterness on the finish. Very enjoyable.
