3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
341ml bottle. Pours black with a 1/4 finger mocha head that thins out to a film quickly.
Aroma has large notes of coffee, bitter chocolate, and hints of molasses, vanilla, bread, and caramel.
Taste is bitter with a much the same notes as the aroma. Coffee, bitter chocolate, roasted malts.
Medium body with a low-medium carbonation. A bit of a thin texture in the mouth but with a slight creamyness. Easily drinkable.
Overall pretty good. It is just what you would expect from an espresso stout but I wouldn’t call it a Sweet Stout. Big coffee flavours that is very drinkable, Mind you this bottle was a touch past its date it was still very good. I would buy again.
341ml bottle no date. Bottle. Pours black with some brownish reflexions and a tan head. Aroma is of roasted malt, coffee and chocolat. Same for the taste. Medium body and carbonation. Long sweet coffee finish. maley1 (1273) - Calgary, CANADA - AUG 15, 2016
Dark brown pour with small beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, espresso, chocolate and faint hops. Taste of roasted malts, faint chocolate, espresso coffee, slight caramel and faint hops. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, perfectly balanced. Wodanson (6) - Alberta, CANADA - AUG 2, 2016 does not count
Pours black with thin beige head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of slight coffee and dark malts. Strong taste of roasty coffee followed by dark malts. Coffee is slightly over powering and the body is not very thick for a stout but overall a pretty good stout. tmalaher (304) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 19, 2016
The perfect stout. Dark, fine brown head (not too much), nice coffee flavor (not too strong) Iphonephan (6989) - Jackson Hole/McLean, Virginia, USA - JUN 12, 2016

Bouteille 1L. [notes 2005] DeanF (2465) - Alberta, CANADA - JAN 26, 2016
Poured cold from the bottle into a tall glass, modest beige head and good black copper body. Really good layered aromas of coffee, chocolate, burnt oak. Okay espresso flavours with roasted barley notes. Not enough oomph on the mouthfeel but just okay. Really good and up there for sure. lonestranger (2) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - DEC 27, 2015 does not count
When it is good, it is very good. But as I have lived up there where it is brewed, I have found it inconsistantly carbonated, and sometimes lacking the rich Midnight Sun Coffee aroma when it is a really good batch. When it is good, it is amazing, but I cannot depend on it after 5 plus years, so I do not buy it to share with friends. What a shame. ljthiessen (1348) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - NOV 6, 2015
Bottle. Dark, nearly black pour with a tan head. Aroma is milk chocolate and roasty coffee, like a creamy mocha. Flavour is pretty roasty, plenty of chocolate with a nice bitter coffee. One of the better coffee stouts I've tried, especially for the ABV. Nice surprise!
