3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
What a pleasure it was to review this beer at its unveiling at Pomeroy’s and to be the first to offer a rating for this exciting new brewery.
There are beers that are breathtakingly pretty - ones that call forth an immediate thirst and an unquenchable desire to have, hold and own them. Lush and inviting, these beers seem to have a glow about them and a come hither head. This is not one of those beers. It appears solid and black with russet notes and a cream coloured head that sinks into the glass. The aroma is of chocolate, toffee pops and has flavours (intriguingly) of bananas, milk chocolate and a hint of the promised chili. Two things surprised me: the milk chocolate and banana flavours and that the chili wasn’t more evident. That said though, this was a good sessionable beer and actually a bit of a sweety.
