Very smooth, yet dark and flavorful. Dark lager describes it very well. It has the mild flavor of a lager with the boldness of a dark beer. crossovert (12934) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 9, 2011
500 ml bottle.
It pours a nice dark brown with reddish hues and a foamy off-white head that billows high, has great retention, and recedes with exceptional lace. This is perfection in appearance for this style.
The smell is decently hopped with a lot of lemon, and a hint of herbal spice. There is also a hint of cocoa and bread.
The taste is hoppy, but sweet. It is like a muenchener dunkel, I cold drink the fuck out of this all summer long. It has a nice lemony and herbal hoppiness that melds beautifully with a roasty chocolate edge.
Did I mention it goes down like super flavorful water that quenches your thirst like no other?
This beer kicks some major, major ass.

Pours to a buff head that lasts and laces. Transparent ruby black color. Slight roast and decocted malt aroma with a honey-like floral hop note. Flavor is reminiscent of molasses, coffee and toffee, with a balancing clean bitterness and hop spice. Mouthfeel is light medium. Overall an outstandingly satisfying and complex dark lager. ordybill (1758) - Douglasville, Georgia, USA - JUL 19, 2016
Poured from a 16 OZ bottle into a pint glass at the World of Beer in Columbia, SC. The appearance is a dark brown with medium sized tan colored head. The aroma is full of toasted malt. The taste is very malty and has a sweet finish. Bamaboy1975 (242) - Suffolk, Virginia, USA - MAY 5, 2013
Dark color. Made a three finger head with low retention.
Nice aroma of toasted malts and dark chocolate.
Flavor of toasted malts with coffee and caramel notes. Earthy/hay hops also emerges through its malt, and gets more and more present as it warms up.
Dry aftertaste, a bit oily and buttery.
Medium body and low carbonation.
Good beer, faithful to style and very pleasant to drink. A beer not for drinking a single bottle, once it has a good mix between drinkability and flavor.

Aroma of bittersweet chocolate, apple, raisins and roasted coffee. Appearance is very dark cola brown with frothy 1/2 in. head in my stein; this head remained quite frothy well into the beer. Flavor starts out with chocolate/roasted flavors and moves to more apple/raisins/dark fruit; the finish comes through with some lemon-kissed herbal hops. Palate was bubbly and lively. Outstanding for the style. dwyerpg (6187) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - JUN 1, 2011
Another nice beer from these guys. Some roast in the aroma, quite a bit more in the body. Malts as well, and just a bit sweet. Really a pretty good dunkel. drpimento (3640) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 3, 2011
Pretty good beer. Poured with a decent sized, foamy, frothy, thick, creamy, light tan head and a little lace. Color is a clear dark brown amber. Aroma is malt, roast, fresh baked dark bread, toffee. Flavor is similar to nose with a little sweetness that’s nicely countered with the yeast, dark malt, and carbonic acid. Body is good, smooth and full yet cut again by carbonic acid. Finish is like flavor, has good length, and is clean. Session beer. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - OCT 16, 2012
Draft. Large beige head, cola-black body, nice lacing. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, milk chocolate, some cherry, roast. Taste is moderately sweet, milk chocolate, some caramel, cherry, light roast. Smooth light-medium body. StuOhBrew (10) - Ohio, USA - DEC 1, 2012
This is one of those beers that just hits me the right way. There is nothing truly extraordinary about it - it is quite smooth and drinkable, with notes of caramel and chocolate - but the simplicity strikes me as honest. Not all of Zatec’s Lagers are all that impressive, considering the age of the brewery, but this one has long been a favorite of mine.
