Very dark brown color and a small, brownish head. Aroma is mostly composed of cheese, barnyard, and skunky scents with an addition of honey and malts - a tad unpleasant. Taste is a bit metallic, somewhat malty not really good either but much better than the aroma. Medium body, creamy texture, and average carbonation. Finish is sweeter and better than the rest but still does not impress. Overall a mediocre beer all the way through.

Alengrin (5893) - BELGIUM - NOV 9, 2014
Classic and, in my opinion, somewhat underrated ’massieve ale’ since 1992, a spiced honey beer, with cream white, regular, moussy and very stable head over a very dark bronze with ruby hue. Pleasant, strongish aroma of raisins, pear, elderberries, chocolate, caramel, honey, coriander, pepper. Malty taste, chocolatey, smooth and full, candied fruits, candi sugar-like sweetness but not cloying and well balanced with drying coriander and herbal hoppiness, spiciness remains subtle enough and some warming alcohol adds complexity to the finish.

33cl bottle Appearance: "Jet black masterpiece", no it’s more of hazy dark brown with a a s small tanned head of less then a 1 finger. leaving some more the nice lacing. Arroma: sweet caramel , spices, candy sugar, some banana and alcohol. Taste:Toffee and milk chocolate flavors. Some dried fruits like raisins and plums. light herbal and yeasty with honey in the finish. full body , soft carbonation, oily texture Ok brew and better as the other 2, but a masterpiece is a bit too much.

Bottle 33cl. Dark brown with a beige head. Malty nose. Very rich taste, unfortunate disturbed by some metallic tones. Coffee, chocolate and some roasted malt is giving a nice impression. Medium length. Quite high carbonization, but not disturbing. Very nice beer
