Zatte Bie from Brouwerij de Bie is a jet black masterpiece called drunken honey bee, slightly spiced, six different malts used from pale to dark one gives smoky, roasted note that is rare in such a big beer. Truly endearing ale.

Bottle. Brown color with a average frothy fair lacing mostly diminshing light brown head. Aroma is brown sugar, licorice, alcohol, light hoppy. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet, moderate acidic, light to moderate bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to lively, finish feel is light alcoholic.

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a huge creamy light brown head. Sweet roasted malt aroma with a light note of honey. Slight sweet into a more herbal and slight acidic finish with bitterness. Reveals some malty and yeasty mixtured flavour with a slight edge and some softness from the honey. Good but nothing really thrilling.

A red brown beer with a fine light brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel, spices, rosehips, and honey. The flavor is dry and sweet with notes of loads of honey, but also rosehips, wood, and fruit.

6th May 2008. Rich brown beer made with honey. Definite treacle note but also faint bubblegum. Dry finish with a coca cola bitterness. Yeasty nose. Faint Melon and Apple notes. Complex and hard to pin down.

Jet black with moderate tan head. Aroma of smoke and malt. Caramel flavor with grapes. Acidic finish. Nice big brew.

Bottle at home .... a big gusher ... lost half the bottle ... Dark brown ... lots of bits ... thin lacing ... sweet toffee sugers and light roast malt nose ... bitter toffee ... some yeast ... decent simple dark roast

omhper (25949) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - FEB 17, 2003
Bottled. Deep ruby, lively. Honey aroma. Sugary sweet with syrupy mouthfeel. Just too sweet for me.

(Bottle 33 cl) The name of this beer might hint at a honey-beer, but that is very far from the truth. Very dark brown beer with a nice, full brownish head with an excellent retention. Spiced but with what isn’t clearly detectable - apart from the candied sugars. Some dried fruits. But the flavours unfold slowly all the way through this beers as it warms up. simply gets better and better. A sublime experience. 170697
