Hopped up Pippen is a unique and moreish cider that brings together some of our favourite Nelson apple varieties with hops from the same region. Freshly pressed Sturmer Pippin and Cox Orange Pippin apples are fermented and then infused with Riwaka, Sauvin and Motueka hops to create a harmonious and balanced blend that showcases all their best characteristics.

14/09/2016 - from cider ratings backlog.

330ml bottle. Clear golden colour, minimal white head. Aroma is apples with a good hop presence, slightly vinous too. Taste follows suit, ripe apples and a nice amount of tropical/citrus hops, vinous, dry finish with a light hop bitterness. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Awesome cider, loved the addition of hops.

500 m bottle. Clean yellow pour. Apple juice with a bitter definitive hop presence. Decent.

Delikatny typowy cydr, ale ze spora nutka chmielu. Fajnie pachnace, jablkami zielonymi i swierzym chmielew, iglaste drzewa takze. W smaku zywica drzew iglastych, jablka kwasne, nieco szarlotki i nalesniki z jablkami. Owocowo chmielne, dlugi wytrawno-gozki finisz, dlugo zalegajacy w ustach. Ciekawe podejscie, Nietypowe wrazenia piwno - cydrowe.

330ml bottle. Sparkling golden colour, white foam head and aroma of apple, fruity hop, funk. Taste is crisp apple, dry, sweetish, flowery, green hop, white wine, with some oak and barnyard notes. Light bodied, fine carbonation, drying finish. Nicely drinkable.

5.8%ABV. Cider.

Tapped out an effervescent pale gold. 2ºSRM.

Nose is sour, cidery and dry. There is perfume-like baby powder dimension to the nose. Raw fruit either pear or Apple is also in the nose and gives you the impression of a small crate of unwashed fresh-picked fruit.

Mouthfeel is juice and carbonated. Sweet with the flavor of apples. Sour comes in at the end of the palate and brief and barely tart.

Medium dry finish with a faint tanin-like stickiness on the palate.

12 oz. draft at Gralehaus. Aroma: Lighter bittersweet juice with bright tropical fruit hop character; India Pale Cider, anyone? Appearance: Pale gold colour with softer carbonation holding up a patchy white head. Flavour: Subdued bittersweet juice up front, followed by a crescendo of tropical fruit hops and lesser bittersweet juice; the finish is dry, abrupt and barely bitter. Palate: Light body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: My second hopped cider, and an eye opener with regards to the possibilities here. A real treat!

i love cider but not hopped ciders, the bitterness is always out of place, and this follows that .. . gold, light .. . low foam .. . sweet apple, skin, bold bitters in the back .. pretty crushable but just a bit too bitter .. . . No, it’s not that, I just don’t like this frog. I’m giving him a squeeze

Bottle from World Beer Market. Zeffer Hopped up Pippin Cider 5.8%

I’ve been looking to try a cider that has been dry hopped. It pours a deep clear shining gold. The aroma is a herbal, spicy almost sweet tart like hippy aroma that pretty much overpowers the apple. Very seltzer like carbonation on a light body. The taste is tart, sweet, a bit candyish with a mild fruity hop bite. It’s interesting and quite good but I feel this particular blend of hops & cider clash more than complement each other. Alright.

Tap at roundhouse, hong kong. Clear golden color, no head. Apples on nose. Pure and fresh apples on taste.

biirusaikou (2705) - - SEP 1, 2015
Draught at Brewdog. Quite odd, feels like acidic apples with notes of fruity hops and grape, lively carbonation, funky sourish finish. Quite an original cider but doesn’t really do it for me.
