Draft at the brewery in Aug. 2014: Hazy polished golden. Uniform small-bubbled head. Lovely nose of lemon candy, sulfur, minerals, and nectar. Soft carbonation, though somewhat fuzzy. Initially staunchly mineralic, dryly malty and snappy with the welcomed grip of toasted hay. Pillowy baguette depth accompanies the crisper toasty edges. Sulfury bite of yeast contributes rusticity and ample vitality. Body is well-supplied with succulent lemon oils and gently sweet flower nectar, which is amplified by the body’s contrasting leanness and exquisite cleanness. Flower petal softness accentuates the melon rind bitterness and scratchy lemon verbena in the squeaky-clean, elegantly hoppy finish. Perhaps a tad less characterful and sulfury than the glorious lagerbier (from the gravity barrel, that is), but flawlessly crafted all around. Remarkably clean, juicy, and balanced, a la Witzgall Vollbier. 3fourths (9347) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - AUG 29, 2014
From CO2 keg at Brauerei Zehendner in Mönchsambach. Effervescent hazed gold with a fine, sticky white head.turbothy (1141) - Bonn, GERMANY - JUL 29, 2014
Mineral water, calcium, lemon and bread dough aroma with light floral hop touches. Clean, lemon-focused hop flavor and aroma, sweet to semi-sweet, bitter, but balanced. Quenching hop acids and bright minerality. Not as characterful as the Lagerbier from gravity barrel, but still difficult to not fall in love with and put down quickly.
Pours cloudy golden with small head. Fresh hop aroma. Refreshing and light, a good session beer. Buongiorgio00 (934) - - JUL 27, 2014
Una delle migliori interpretazioni tedesche del loro stile chlassico di bionda autoctona: piacevolmente maltata, elegantemente floreale, con una punta erbacea stuzzicante. Davvero buona! JulienHuxley (5809) - Sherbrooke, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 20, 2014
Bottle at home, BB August 12th (purchased at the brewery July 5th). Clear gold pour with rich creamy white head. Aroma is grainy, floral hops, mild farmy hay aromas, grassy. Taste is grainy, light husky flavors, grassy finish. Palate is light-med bodied, a bit heftier than the lagerbier, medium carbonation. Easy drinking and refreshing.
