Had at Zeno’s. Served room temp. I thought it was smooth and mild. Nothing out of this world.

Cask at Zeno’s. Pours cloudy rust color with thin beige head. The aroma is sweet caramel with some fruity and grassy notes. The flavor is sweet caramel with some leafiness. Brown sugar floats around in there, too. Wood and char come out in the finish and linger into aftertaste. Not bad, but it starts off too sweet for my taste.

adrian910ss (2572) - Doylestown, PA, USA - SEP 5, 2007
On cask at Zeno’s. Pours an orange coppery amber with a medium creamy beige head. Faint aroma of malty dark fruit and alcohol. Taste is bitter malty with a tangy aftertaste.

3.2
auerbrau (3203) - Ithaca, New York, USA - MAY 31, 2007
On Cask at Zeno’s Pub. Draws a ruddied orange and amber, with light haze and a rim of off-white. Aroma a mild musky grain with streambed and light yeastiness. Flavor moves with a really calm, crystalline sugar base, loaded with bits of caramel, graham cracker, toast and yeast esters. Fairly clean, lightly nuanced and rich. The finish is not entirely desirable with a long bitterness that’s not necessarily dervied from hops. Almost a burnt coffee bitterness.

agl108 (1232) - Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 27, 2007
On cask at Zeno’s, Penn State. Poured deep brown with tan head. Sweet malty aroma and the flavor is no different. Also spicy with notes of caramel.

FROTHINGSLOSH (7796) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 13, 2007
Sampled on draft at Zeno’s in State College PA this beer poured a murky red-brown color with a large brown head. The aroma was sweet malts and citrus. The flavor was bitter caramel and light fruitiness. The finish was long and bitter.

3.9
3fourths (9345) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAR 5, 2007
UPDATED: APR 1, 2009 Pint from cask. Red murky appearance, toast colored head. Nose of cherries and cedar, lightly sweet and lightly spicy. Flavor is smooth, spicy and peppery, lightly tart cherries, light cedar wood, and a nice zing of alcohol. Awesome stuff, a malt-bomb, has a fullness and thickness that’s common in other Otto’s brews and it’s what helps make them so good.
