Appears black but is really closer to brown. Tight bubbles on the head. It has a really good fudge-forward aroma. Maybe even chocolate chip cookies. Very light taste. Weak almost. This was poured into a tulip (scratching my beard, not sure why we gotta do that, ugh, things that place needs to learn, I digress).
The appearance was a black color with a bar pour’s kind of slim white head. Barely any lacing, but I’m okay with that.
The smell started off with a big roasty coffee to sweet cocoa. Light black licorice enters in after a bit of warming.
The taste was moderately sweet with an ample amount of roastiness blending to balance nicely. A mostly sweet and subtly roasty aftertaste runs into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a decent sessionability about it. Carbonation hits just right for the style and for me. Nice smoothness allowing the roastiness to just prickle a bit but not go overboard.
Overall, I’d say its a nice American Porter, just wish people could get past this "tulip" thing and pour beers into correct glassware rather than stemware for every beer. Inertiaman37 (32) - - JUL 9, 2015

[5297-20130428] Tap. Lightly roasted malt grain aroma has a hint of coffee. Clear, dark mahogany brown body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Sweet roasted malt grain flavour has a lingering light roast wood note. Medium-full body. Tasty, good. (7/3/7/3/15) 3.5

On tap @ the brewery. Pours a dark brown/black color with an inch of tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee, chocolate, and caramel. Tastes is roasted coffee, chocolate, caramel, with some light pine in the finish.

2013-04-28.V dark brown black body, small foamy tan head. Aroma of tangy fruit, almost blackberry like, modest roast. Flavour is pretty dry up front, roasty malt, sort of tangy fruit character follows. Average bodied palate, decent carbonation feels light for a porter. Decent. On tap at American Flatbread. Aroma has chocolate and roasted malts. Black color with light tan head. Slightly sweet with light bitterness. Lots of hints of chocolate. Medium body. Overall, I don’t drink a lot of porters, but this tasted very good for the style. Not too bitter, not too sweet, and not too much of anything. Very well balanced. Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Light roasted malty aroma, with toasted grainy notes and a light nutty sweetness. The flavor has nutty and lightly roasted malts with some toasted grainy notes. Pretty good.
